Question about Dell Dimension 5100 (D51L1) PC Desktop
There is power to the power supply, tested it to be sure, and there is a green light on the motherboard that turns on, but the cpu will not power on when the button is pushed. reset the ram, disconnected the cards, removed the battery, and still nothing. any thoughts? hoping for not a dying/dead mobo :)
Might be a problem with the power button...try exchanging the power adapter and the reset adapter in your motherboard...this would become:
RESET BUTTON: as power button.
view your manual on where to find this adapters in your board.

I had the same problem with the same symptoms. Had it taken to a professional and found out it was in fact a faulty power supply. Good luck.

Before commencing, what color is the power light on the case? If it is flashing amber, you're looking at PS or MoBo Issues. If the light is off, power button. If the light is on green, then probably MoBo.
