SOURCE: Suzuki S50 electrical issue
I had the same problem with mine. It would usually work to just jump down on the seat and everything would come back on. Then one day it wouldn't work. I eventually narrowed it down to the battery connections. The bolts to the battery seemed tight when checked through the access holes on either side of the bike. I removed them and dropped the battery down to find the small bar in the battery post was loose from the front side of the battery. I tightened both of those bolts, put the battery back in and re-connected the wires to the side of the terminals. That was almost 2 months ago and it hasn't happened again yet. If they do come loose again, I'll put some loc-tite on them next time.

I'm sorry that was misspelled. It pops and backfires. And sputters And then it will eventually die and can only be restarted with choke pulled all the way out.
