It is possible that the neutral lever (free wheeling lever) has been actuated by pulling the lever out during the repair. For normal operation the lever should be pushed in.

Hope this helps?

My 42" Husqvarna (model #917.279240

Remove the center dust caps from the rear axles, start the tractor up and put it in gear and observe the axles, if one of them is spinning freely inside the wheel, you have lost the 1/4" square key that pins the wheel to the axle. Replace the key and you can go back to mowing. Hope this helped Tim

I want to repair one of the rear tires. How do I disassemble?

Hard rubber or plastic cap in center to be gently pried off, this will expose a C clip holding the wheel onto a splined shaft. Jack the mower frame up until the tire is off the ground. Remove C clip and then the wheel, being careful keep it, the washers, and the key in order. If you lose the key, which will fall out when you pull the wheel off, axle will not spin the wheel when you put it back together. Note tire can accidentally be put on backwards, so make sure you do not do that or you will rub a groove right through the tire. Mower tires cost more than car tires. Most tire shops can also fix large mower tires.

The steering on my Husquavana 150 mower is slack and uneven, it turns sharp to left but not to right. Gear wheel at end of steering shaft is worn. How do I repair it with more sustainable solution. Thank...

replace steering gear and lower nyliner bushings on steering shaft. Also check sector gear for wear and replace if needed. When replacing gear place front wheels straight forward and center steering wheel-the unit should steer the same both ways then.

Our 20 hp 46" cut Husqvarna '08 riding mower will crank just fine but will not move forward or backward.

Check to make sure the belt that runs from the engine pulley back to the transaxle is on all the pulleys. If it is a hydrostatic transaxle make sure the free wheel control lever at the back of the tractor is in correct position, or the brake plate may be stuck on but that would make a loud grinding sound. If it is a gear drive make sure the transaxle pulley is turning and make sure you didn't lose a rear wheel key from the axle,(if you had the tire off for a repair it is easy to lose the key when you go to put the tire back on.

Craftsman 19hp won't move when in gear

There is a square key about 2 " long that fits in the slot on the axle and wheel and locks them together.. You probably didn't see it when putting tire back on and knocked it out. If you go back where you removed tire, you'll find it laying on the ground.
