Cmos battery being dead will not cause this issue. you can actually remove the cmos batter and power the unit on fine. your issue sounds like it more motherboard related. check this link to see if you qualify. others have qualified for this motherboard replacement. i have sent many laptops in for no power/no video/no boot issues

good luck!

HP pavilion dv6815nr (6700 series) won't boot after removing and and putting back the cmos battery. How do I troubleshoot this?

You bricked the motherboard. You can;t leave the battery out that long. The capacitor that holds just enough charge to change the battery probably went dead. BIOS is gone.

Acer 5420 Extensa no power lights on and off

My kids Acer extensa would not power up, front power lights go on for a couple of seconds then go off leaving us with a dead laptop ready for the trash, I followed the tip to disassemble the laptop completly and reasssemble my thinking was why not its dead anyway? so I did and guess what it worked. I think the biggest reason this worked is because of the removal of the battery CMOS caused a hard reset therefore clearing Main board boot logic this allowed for laptop to boot and work again. So far so good its been 10 days. The first tests I made where to check the power supply for voltage with a digital voltmeter and paper clip to probe the center of pin terminal for 19.0 volts dc. My second test I made prior to dissasembly was removal of battery, hold down the power button for 30 seconds for a soft reset. the laptop should power up with the battery taken off the laptop in my case it did not, so I said lets dissasemble, while I was there I removed the battery that retains CMOS memory on the main board and checked for over 3.0 volts that tested ok. I did not see any abnormal wiring or mainboard issues or odors! all visual looked perfect so I proceeded to reasemble and laptop booted. All tips vary by laptop and if problem is software or hardware but this one worked for me so far, thanks for all the great tips out there keep up the good work!

My new HP notebook won't turn on. I've had it for one month. There is a light on the side where it is plugged in, but it won't turn on

Unplug the AC adaptor. Remove the battery. Hold down the start button for 1 minute. Replace the battery and plug in the AC adapter. The computer should reboot.

URGENT! My computer doesn't switch on and Ihave a tight schedule.

please try a different ac-adapter, since its most likely defective.

if the powerled just blinks 1 time it usually indicates that the battery is empty and need to be charged.

Failed on restart, had all lights, now no lights and won't do anything!

sounds like your ac plug to the laptop might be loose you can try ans see if you can resolder it back. the other problem is your ac cord might be broken wiggle it around see if the light flickers.
