My camcorder was working fine. For the first time ever, I used the mirror mode where you turn the LCD screen around so you can video yourself (I just wanted to see how it worked). Since then, when I power up the camera (it powers up fine) but as soon as I open the LCD door about 1/4 of the way, the entire camera shuts off. It won't turn on again until I close the LCD, but as soon as I start opening it again, it shuts down. When the LCD screen is closed, the viewfinder and camera work perfectly. Could there be something "shorting out" the camera because of the viewfinder being twisted once in mirror mode like I did? Is it worth repairing or should I count my losses?
It's a pinched wire harness. Have an authorized repair center check it out and have it replaced. It's not something you can do yourself unles you have your service manual.

I am trying to transfer some 8mm film to the computer through the Quasar VM-D52, by using a canopus and a 8mm proj. Problem is seems to work fine, but it shuts off after about 2 minutes. It is my brothers and I don't have the book, and do not see a way to disable this? Other than possibly taking a tape a recording at the same time. I think the film is longer than the cassette and I don't have a spare cassette. Is their a setting to disable this? thanks
