Question about Quasar VM-D52 Camcorder

2 Answers

Sony TRV-720 My camcorder was working fine. For the first time ever, I used the mirror mode where you turn the LCD screen around so you can video yourself (I just wanted to see how it worked). Since then, when I power up the camera (it powers up fine) but as soon as I open the LCD door about 1/4 of the way, the entire camera shuts off. It won't turn on again until I close the LCD, but as soon as I start opening it again, it shuts down. When the LCD screen is closed, the viewfinder and camera work perfectly. Could there be something "shorting out" the camera because of the viewfinder being twisted once in mirror mode like I did? Is it worth repairing or should I count my losses?

Re: Sony TRV-720

It's a pinched wire harness. Have an authorized repair center check it out and have it replaced. It's not something you can do yourself unles you have your service manual.

Vista Driver for Sony TRV330

No driver required. Plug the supplied cable into the computer firewire port and the Sony "i-Link" port on the TRV-330 and turn on the TRV-330 in VCR mode. Works in XP and Vista out of the box.

if the camera is going on in the play mode and you are getting a blue screen with play indicator it is mostly due to dirty head. what have you used for cleaning the head. take the help of repairer for cleaning as he will do so after opening the cover. if that doesent solves the problem then get the video head checked for any damages such as broken tips.

if all the indicators i.e. battery condition, play mark, counter, etc are visible on the screen then it can be a simple problem of dirty video head. try using a head cleaning cassette or do the head cleaning manually, Open the cover by removing three screws on the right hand side next to the viewfinder. Slide it little towards front and pick it up. The video head will be visible.
