4178422 need thermo coupling for my heater

Please, let's back up, you are too specific. Start with general. What is the make and model of heater? Is this a furnace? A water heater? Then go to a vendor on the web that sells parts for your heater. Such as AppliancePartsPros.com or a vendor that sells parts for furnaces or water heaters. There are many others out there. Search for "Water Heater Parts" or "Carrier furnace parts" or what ever manufacturer made the heater.
Enter your make and model of heater and they usually will have a parts list along with pictures of the part. Look for your thermocoupling and find the match They buy it. If it is a gas appliance thermocoupling, it might be best to let someone familiar with gas appliances and gas leak prevention to install the part. Special sealants, fittings, and tests are needed to make sure you have no leak. Electrical appliances are different. Turn off the breaker, and you can usually replace parts without the gas leak risk.
