1. Loosen the screw on the front of the hand wheel, almost completely.
2. Now, tighten the hand wheel control knob. The needle should be able to move now.
3. Tighten the screw. Your hand wheel control knob should be able to be loosened for bobbin winding and tightened for sewing.
Just for information purposes: The hand wheel control knob is usually the small round knob on the front of the hand wheel and is also very shiny.

Elnita 130 sewing machine is weak when starting

So, the motor is straining to run the machine? Your machine is mechanical? Then, the old oil has most likely solidified and is preventing the machine parts from moving freely. Do not force the motor until you can get the issue addressed or you may burn out the motor. The following method has worked on several old Berninas that were seized:

Wheel on right side that controls the needle up and down is very tight...

Will not zigzag or decorative stitches New to these newer plastic style...

Can I just change the needle plate on my janome overlocker been told I need to have loopers reset

Sergers are funny things. You can certainly try just replacing the needle.... make sure you thread correctly. upper looper, lower looper, right needle left needle... etc.

Before you take off sewing... run the machine by hand a few revolutions if it seems to be moving with no more clunking etc. try to sew. If it breaks the needle again. Stop immediately and take it in.

Sewing machine motor will not run after attempting

Overload Viking:
The machine has a built in overload protector, if your needle can’t penetrate, it may stop the machine from working for a few minutes. Just wait it will reset automatically. Then, try a Sharp needle (denim needle is ideal) and be sure to Never Never reverse sew on heavy fabric, your needle will bend and hit the needle plate, use the FIX button for knotting (it really does work).

Sewing machine will not advance the fabric

Have you tried adjusting the tension as you sew?
Use a scrap piece of the same fabric, (doubled, etc to simulate piece you'll be working) and adjust the tension as you sew. Sometimes, that's all it takes.

Brother VX-1120- The needle is not picking up bobbin thread.

I had the same problem with my brother vx-1120 sewing machine. I set the needle to lowest position by using the hand crank. Then I loosened the knerled set screw that holds needle in place. Then I moved needle shaft till the eye of needle is just lower than the hook on the shuttle loop maker. It made my mechine work. There are instuctions for ajusting timing on machine but I think these mechines are built to not fix and throw out. Just because there where no ajustment marks at all on machine, any machanical machine will needed to be ajusted sometime.

Wheel won't turn

Hello,

The same thing happend to me with an older model (Singer XL 10). I have been sewing a decorating stitch and the machine stopped suddenly. Now I am not able to turn the hand wheel anymore like I should (I can move it a little bit, but the needle does not move up and down and the wheel is getting stuck). When I try to use the pedal the motor makes a horrible noise and stops. The needle is not moving up and down.

Is there a solution for that problem? I moved from Europe to Australia and have not used my machine since. Today is the first day, I was cleaning and oiling it and it first sewed perfectly. In case that there would be thread stuck somewhere, how could I possibly clean that? I already took off the plastic from the head, but I can not see where the problem is.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

Best regards,
Nelly
