SOURCE: Dyson DC-07 Hose Wand Spring Came Out. How to put back in?

You'll see that there is a round piece with a cross shape on the inside of the button wand release button - place the end of the spring over the cross - you'll see the same cross on the collar of the machine...it'll take some doing, but line the other end of the spring up with the cross and pop the button back into place - be sure to click it onto those two gray circular/oval shaped divets at the bottom where the release button connects to so that the button stays in place.

SOURCE: My telescopic wand height adjustment won't lock

These wands have a very small nub that locks them into place. They wear out very easily. You might have to replace the wand.

SOURCE: hi my dyson dc18 has great suction from wand but

My Dyson dc18 had the same symptoms. The wand worked well and the floor bar had no suction. After removing pieces & shoving my fingers into the machine (no blockage) I found the suction pipe rotates between two positions (floor and wand). It looks like a piece of plastic broke on the outside housing, so it no longer rotates positions when the wheels are raised or lowered. My son found we can move the suction by sliding a finger into the mechanism behind the wheel cover, and rotating the plastic piece clock-wise or counter clock-wise until it locks into position. It's a big pain but it works for now. I wish I could find a replacement piece online. Patty

SOURCE: how many filters in the Dyson DC23 canister

    Hi Julie,

In normal use, DC23's filter should be washed at least once every 3-6 months, as shown in the video below. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 24 hours for it to dry completely before replacing it.

The HEPA post-motor filter does not need maintenance, and is designed to last the lifetime of the machine.

    Wand will not pull out

Hi Colin, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC27's wand should release from the machine easily, and disengage from the body of the machine when it's fully extended. If it seems to be jammed in place, it's possible there's a blockage within the hose which is preventing it from extending.

To resolve this, open the clear U-bend and check for any obstructions.

This should help, but if you continue to have difficulty you're welcome to get in touch with the Dyson Customer Helpline for further assistance from our experts. We can help you check if the mechanism for the wand is damaged - and if a replacement part is needed, we can confirm whether your machine is covered under the Dyson warranty.

There is a sock stuck in the hose of my dyson dc23 animal motorhead how do I get it out

Hi, this is Jim with Crucial Vacuum,

Detach the hose and stretch it out completely, if the sock is in a hard to reach place use a broom handle to push it out. Be careful to mind the edges of the hose you don't want to cause a tear, which would lead to poor suction.

    Where are both filters?

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC23 has two filters - a washable pre-filter, and a HEPA post-filter which needs no maintenance. Both are engineered to last the lifetime of the vacuum without replacement in normal use.

The correct way to wash the pre-filter is shown in the video below - we recommend using cold water without detergent, and allowing at least 24 hours for the filter to dry completely before replacing it. In normal use this should be done at least once every 3 months.

As the post-filter needs no maintenance, it's sealed within the machine and cannot be accessed by the user.

I hope this helps, but please let me know if you'd like any further advice. If you have any concerns about your DC23's performance, our online Support guide should help: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc23/dc23-animal/my-machine-is-not-working/check-telescopic-wand-step-1-turbine-head

Wand will not release from vacum

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

As long as your DC40's wand was replaced correctly on the vacuum the last time it was used, it should lift easily away from the main body, as shown in our video guide below. There are no buttons or catches to undo:

If the wand appears to be jammed in place, we'd need to take some further details to help you resolve this issue. When you have your DC40 easily to hand, please give the Dyson Customer Helpline a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

We'll look forward to speaking with you, and helping you release the wand.

Machine shut off when suction release button was accidentally pushed. Now it won't come back on! What should I do?

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

The issue you've described sounds very unusual. DC23 has a suction relief trigger underneath the hand grip of the wand handle, but this isn't connected to the vacuum's electrical components and shouldn't cause the vacuum to cut out in use.

However like most Dyson vacuums, DC23 is engineered to shut off for protection if it starts to overheat. This may occur if the machine is used when blocked, or if the filter is overdue for a wash. It should reset automatically after it's had around 2 hours to cool down, but to prevent it from happening again please follow the steps shown in our online support guide: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc23/dc23-animal/my-machine-is-not-working/check-telescopic-wand-step-1-turbine-head

In normal use, we recommend washing the lifetime pre-filter at least once every 3 months using cold water without detergent. Allow at least 24 hours for the filter to dry completely before replacing it.

I'm confident following these steps will resolve the issue, but if you'd like further help or advice after giving this a try, please call our experts directly on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

Beater bar will not turn on dc23.

Hi Jean, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear your DC23's Turbine head doesn't seem to be working correctly. Often this can be caused by a blockage in the floor tool, wand or hose, or because the filter needs a wash. However, I note you have already checked for this.

We'd appreciate the opportunity to take you through some quick troubleshooting checks when you have your machine to hand. If we're not able to resolve the issue we can confirm if your machine is within our 5-year guarantee period, and whether a repair or replacement part is covered.

Dyson DC11 wand does not lock in place when extended for use, very frustrating!

Hi Susan, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty with your DC11's wand. It's important to make sure each section is extended fully - you should here the clips 'click' as they lock. If it doesn't seem to do this, it's worth checking to make sure none of the clips have been damaged in any way. If you can see damage, it may be necessary to replace the wand - you can order spares directly from www.dyson.com

If you'd like some further help with this, you can reach our experts directly by calling the Dyson customer Helpline. Our numbers are 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1-877-397-6622 (CA).
