I cannot get any sound from my secondary speakers, only my main speakers. tabwyn

I am using a Kenwood VR-60RS. The main speaker, the subwoofer works. The surround left and right, center left and right and back surround do not have sound. They worked earlier. Then I worked with a technicial who told me to go into the setup menu to try and control the volume on my inside and outside speakers separately. That was my original problem. When I turned the volume up loud enough to be heard outside it was too loud inside. When I tried to manually reconfigure, somehow I lost all of the sound to my other speakers including the outside speakers.

the first thing to do now is to get a notepad and note down how you wire the speakers'

unplugged the unit from the wall outlet and relax.

if you have done, doing it, have all the speakers remove

power it up once again

if the unit wont power up then disconnect all that is connected to the inputs and note it also.

power it up again , if the unit still wont turn on, you have a bad amplifier.

if the unit is powering up, try to connect one to the input only this time lower the volume a little bit

start reconnecting one by one the speaker, or better one first and use it as a tester for each of your amplifier

you need to test it manually which terminal is not working and note it

you will know what speakers might have been busted or the amplifier is busted

if all the speakers are all good, congrats,

the trouble is in your amplifier

in your amplifier check first the settings, if everything OK then time to open up your unit.

if it is still in warranty don't, give a ring on the dealer or visit the manufacturer web site

if you want to further diagnose your unit you will be needing to get the part number of the electronic parts mounted on the biggest aluminum heatsink that you can see,

later a multimeter will do the voltage checking, have someone to do it , it can be done with a help.

you can Google for the electronic part which i have mentioned to know something about it.

hope i have helped you, thanks for using Fixya!

How to change voltage from American standard 120 V to European 220V

This is for a powered speaker? You'll need an "autotransformer" or "step-down transformer" with a 240VAC primary winding and a 120VAC secondary winding. If you try to just use a plug adapter and power that speaker from 240V, you'll destroy it immediately.

Ear sound not working

There are three main reasons for it not to work: Dirty contacts (when an electric contact between the small speaker does not meet the electric circuit that controls and feeds it) in that case you have to clean those parts; Burned speaker ( the only way to fix it is to change it). Or a broken display connective ribbon (it's the ribbon that makes the connection from the phone's main board, to the display board, and the small speaker) the only way to fix that kind of thing is to change the ribbon. These 3 thing are to be solved at a service, rather than by yourself. The fourth reason (which is a secondary reason) is that the speaker is muted, from the phone's menu.. since it's Nokia, you might want to call anyone or answer a call and press the volume + button on the side of the phone or the left arrow key, around the main menu button.

Only one speaker works - altec lansing computer speakers ADA215

The solution is actually quite simple, due to a design flaw. Altec lansing designed a rather cheap mini din plug-in which can either be replaced or repaired depending on your skill and patience level. Your ground contact is fine BUT the positive contact is not making connection due to the fact that the plastic housing has broken away and pulled the contact with it. This can be super glued back into place or just replaced with a new mono minidin plug-in.

The mains transformer in my Logitech x540 has blown (oc on the primary). I've taken it out and its a simple single coil primary and secondary, but there are no markings on it to indicate the secondary...

You would need to rewind the coils.Do not try to do it by yourself if you have no idea what you are up-to...this time it was transformer next time it could it could be your circuit.Take it to a professional, the charges won't be much.
Good Luck.

No sound out of monitor speakers

Is there actually any unknown devices in the device`manager?

Are your monitor speakers USB or do they plug into the audio out jack of your sound card or motherboard???

If they plug into the sound jack, then test the sound output with a pair of headphones.

Hope this helps you narrow it down. Please reply back if you need further help
