How to repair auto a/c problem. A/C not blowing from dash vents, only. Issue occurred immediately after replacing a bad battery.

I recently had to replace a bad battery. Immediately after my A/C stopped blowing from my dash vents. All other vents seem to be working fine. I find that when I turn the dial to the “dash vent” setting the flaps behind the vents do open; however cold air barely blows from the vents, for some reason most of the cold air blows out of the “foot” vents. I tried resetting the HVAC via instructions provided on You Tube (removing the HVAC fuses and replacing them) but it didn't solve the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When you change air flow direction from defrost ,to floor ,to vent . does air flow change ? Where is the air coming out of ? Does it stay there ?

Testimonial: "Yes, all other settings are working fine. (Defrost and floor, even the back seat vents) I can hear the air trying to come out of the dash vents, it's like something is blocking the air. I looked in to the vent with a flashlight and it looks like there are closed flaps just inside the dash vents."

This could be a tough one to fix , if the actuator is moving an the flap (door) isn't opening , a part of the actuating door may be broken . Which means the instrument panel would need to be taken out of the vehicle an the heat/AC assmebly as well . Can you stick something down in there to see if you can push it open ? Or look under the dash an see if there is a broken linkage . watch this it may help you find out what to look for .https://youtu.be/ABRG1Vh8igE

Last night I re-inspected my A/C more closely (and without my children running around me). I found that when I turn the dial to the “vent” setting the flaps behind the vents do open. Cold air barely blows from the vents, for some reason most of the cold air blows out of the “foot” vents.

I have a 98 Buick Lesabre Limited. It blows Cool air, but not Cold. And also, I can't seem to make it blow out of the Center Dash Vents.

Cornelius, vent problem could be a pinched or loose vacuum line on controller, faulty AC vacuum motor, faulty AC programmer, etc. needs to be checked out by a good Tech, diagnosed and estimate on repair.
As far as vehicle only blowing cool air, issue could be blend door issue, plugged AC condenser core dirt/debris, low AC refrigerant, plugged AC lines internal, failing compressor, etc., again should be checked out, diagnosed and estimate for repair by a good Tech.
Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

2005 Ford Focus. Air is blowing out of the floor vents and defrost vents but not dash vents. Also the knob will not go onto the dash vent option it's like it just springs back up.

A failure has occurred in the HVAC system, legally, when a fault happens the hvac system will default to defrost/floor. Further diagnostics will be needed to determine issue.

1999 durango vent control switch will not let AC blow threw vents only defrost

Usually this is a problem with the blend doors under the dash. You either have a vac leak, a dead motor, or a faulty door.
The control opens and closes the doors to direct air thru the heater core and evaporator core along with directing air thru the vents.
When a problem occurs, the default position is the defrost vents to make sure the windshield remains clear.
You can do an internet search for "repair durango blend door" for more info.
