1. Might it be that a security configuration setting in you router is preventing you from connecting to the internet?
Check the WEP or WPA settings; the set type of network (B, G or both), MAC address filters, etc.)

2. Download the most updated driver for you adapter from D-Link support pages. The last service pack for Windows XP (SP3) turned some adapters (DLink models too ) unable to connect to internet. The driver update will solve the proble

I cant find drivers for my qwest usb wireless adapter

Hi Hellrazer,

Welcome to Fix Ya! You can find the drivers and support help at Qwest's Internet support page: http://www.qwest.com/internethelp/wireless.html Once there:

1. Select the Wireless tab. Then, select "Set Up Qwest Wireless Adapter."

2. Another window with various wireless adapters will appear. Click on your model.

3. Then select "Installation and Drivers." Another window will appear with links to drivers for different versions of Windows- 7, Vista, XP and sometimes earlier. Select your version of windows and click on the link to download the drivers and save to your desktop.

5. Install the drivers and follow the instructions.

CAUSE
Windows XP SP3 introduces a new .dll file that is named Wlanapi.dll. This file is installed in the %WINDIR%\System32 folder. Certain device driver installations for some third-party wireless network adapters also install a Wlanapi.dll file in the %WINDIR%\System32 folder. If such a file is installed in this folder before you install Windows XP SP3, the Wlanapi.dll file that is associated with the network adapter is replaced by the file from the Windows XP SP3 installation.

RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, check the Web site of the wireless network adapter's manufacturer for the latest device drivers that are available for a Windows XP SP3-based system. Then, download and install the latest device drivers for the wireless network adapter. Source(s): http://support.microsoft.com/kb/950720

I bougth a router for my comp. it is a window vista seems to be fine when i loaded it. then i bougth a usb adapter with speed booster-g. now do i put this one in my sons comp. and what is the cable that...

If it's a USB adapter, the cable is just a USB extension cable, so that you can move the adapter around for best signal strength without having to move the whole computer.

Remove the phone line, because he no longer needs it to connect to the internet.

Just let Windows load the drivers it needs for the adapter (use the CD that came with it if the computer asks for it).

Wireless Internet Conection

Hi,
The wireless adapter on your comp requires reinstallation of drivers.
For this if using windows xp click start>run>type in devmgmt.msc press enter> it will open up device manager in that window double click network adapters it will collapse the list and you'll find your wireless adapter listed in there right click on it and click uninstall and then restart your comp. It will reinstall the adapter drivers but you have to be careful while doing this because any wrong step can uninstall the device completely.
