Please clarify your question.. M-2625u is a model of Gateway notebooks, which comes with internal Wireless and Ethernet cards. Which of thes cards card were stolen? (and how was the card stolen and not the computer also?) You shouldn't have trouble replacing the wireless internal card, by and external one ( a wireless USB card). Follow the installing instructions for your card (install the software/drivers first and only then connect the card). You might also want to uninstall the stolen card drivers.

You can get various manufacturers PCMCIA network cards that work with laptops. I favour Netgear and Dlink network cards.

Plug in an ethernet cable into your ethernet card port on the left hand side of your laptop. When it connects to the internet click on the Windows update icon in the system tray. It should show you a Realtek Wireless RTL8187b wireless adapter driver update. Install it, you may need to reboot, but in any case you will have wireless networks available to you and you can pull out the ethernet cable. Good luck.

Network adapter not installed or not present message

Hi,

Restart your computer in safe mode. Press F8 while rebooting. Once in safe mode, go to Start - control Panel - system. Right click on and remove the network card devices (you might see more of them there than you do in normal mode). Then restart the computer.

It should detect the new card and allow you to install the drivers for it. If it still doesn't detect the new NIC card, try powering off the machine. Open the case, and make sure the card is properly seated inside the computer case. Press down on it firmly. Then restart and see if it detects the card.

If it doesn't detect the card, the card might be bad. If you have another card, I'd suggest trying a different one, to see if it recognizes a card that you know is good.

Try these things and let me know how it goes. Thanks.
