This only worked as long as I shut the keyboard gently. The problem really seems to be mechanical. When sliding shut, the battery is jostled just enough to lose contact and shut the phone down. Placing a folded piece of paper between the battery and the non contact side of the phone to increase pressure slightly.
Hope this works for you as well

I have the SAME problem with my Gravity phone. I haven't figured out how to fix it yet, but it helps if you slide the phone open (and close it) carefully and slowly. Try that and it will shut off less frequently.

Ok, think I may have actually fixed this problem.

Go to Phone Settings (lower right hand of icons menu)

Then go to 4. Phone Settings

Go to auto Key Lock and turn that "Off"

Then go back and go to 3. Display Settings

    Go to Backlight, then Duration

Then change "On' to 30 seconds

and change Dim to "Off" < very important that you do that

It should stop shutting off randomly now, or at least shut off a lot less.

I changed my phone to these settings this morning (just trying to tweak the problem away) and it hasn't shut off all day. Which is really good, considering it usually shuts off atleast once every hour.

Let me know if that helped.

Mine does the same thing so u need to get a small piece of paper and fold it and put it on the side where it doesn't touch. Or u can just get a new battery from cell phone shop.net they have really cheap cell phone stuff their.

I tried both the solution posted by grecoj2 and the paper shim suggested by oqoqoqo. The phone has worked fine since. (It used to shut off randomly, among other problems.) I am currently trying it with just the paper shims (I set the autolock and dim back ON.)
I have a paper shim at the end of the battery opposite from the contacts, and a shim between the battery and the back cover.
I used to work at Moto, and handled a lot of phones. Many are very sensitive to momentary loss of power caused by small mechanical shocks. The Samsung Gravity is (if this is really the problem) EXTREMELY sensitive.

My acer all in one z5600 runs for awhile and then shuts down very annoying!!!

Start by cleaning the fan or fans, heatsink, and vents, you may have to open the computer. When you open, you may as well replace the Thermal Paste on the CPU and Graphics Chips. Overheating will cause shut downs, heat sensors set to detect a set temp. will shut down to protect vital components from heat related damage. ALSO, Open Control Panel, Power Options, set to High Performance, open Change plan settings, under Plugged In, set both to Never, open Advanced Power settings, go through thr Advanced settings set Sleep and Hibernate to Never, Adjust to your preference. It's a good idea to Always shut down your computer when not in use, it will last longer and a reboot everyday will reset the machine. Make sure ALL your Windows and Acer Updates are current.

Slow logoff times

The most likely culprit is a program that is hanging up the shut down process. Before you shut down, close all open programs, including the ones on the task bar.
