Question about Dell Inspiron 2200 Notebook

1 Answer

I got an Insprion 2200. It turns on, but once I move it the power cuts out. Not sure if it's the ac jack on the back of my laptop or another internal problem. Even with the battery in there left to charge, once I take out the power cord it dies. Aghhh...

The DC connect on the system board may be loose. Take hold of it at the connection and wiggle it slightly. If it moves alot, the DC connector on the board is loose.

If not, take your battery out and power up the unit and see it stays on. If it does then it is the battery.

I was playing a game and it randomly turn off. It was on the ac adapter and everything. I cant turn it back on or get the ac afapter to get my laptop to charge. What is the problem?

Hello.

The most common reasons for power issues are the battery, power jack and power adapter/cord.

Power off and remove the battery. If the laptop powers on with just the adapter connected, your battery is faulty.

If you move/wiggle the power adapter at the point where it connects to the laptop, and the power goes off and on, the power jack is the problem.

The power jack is inside the laptop and either needs soldering or replacement. If a power jack problem, it should be addressed by someone knowledgeable.

Hope this helps.

Hi i need help plz, i've my laptop do not power when i plug the ac adapter ther' is no ligth

You may have a DC connector problem:

Symptoms of a broken power jack
1. If you wiggle the power cord or the AC Adapter connector on the back of the laptop, the power LED and battery charge LED start to flicker.
2. Battery will not charge in the laptop.
3. Laptop runs fine off a charged battery.
4. With the AC Adapter connected the laptop appears to be dead.
No power LED or battery charge LED activity.
5. Laptop randomly powers off without any warning.

If your laptop is out of warranty, then you can fix the problem by re-soldering DC-IN jack on the system board. If it

Is there an internal microphone and if so where is it located trying to record myself i have a compaq presario 2200

Hi, the HP Compaq Presario 2200 PC has no built in or internal microphone. You will have to purchase an external one to record audio. The microphone jack, when viewing the laptop from the front, is located on the left side.

There are small round holes which are jack ports. From the front to the back, the microphone port to plug in a microphone is the second hole back. Here is a manual in case you need more help with your laptop: Click Here.

Power problem

Here are some ideas you can try when troubleshooting power issues with a laptop:

1. Plug the laptop into AC power.

2. Take out the battery.

3. Try a different outlet.

4. Look for the light that indicates that the AC adapter is plugged in. If that light isn't on, try plugging and unplugging the AC power jack and moving it around until the light shows its connected. If no light comes on, its possible you have a bad DC jack or the AC adapter needs to be replaced.

5. If the indicator light is on and the laptop won't power on, then it's possible you have a bad switch board or stuck button. Make sure no buttons are stuck. Conversely, push hard on the power button and move it around in order to make sure you're making good contact.

6. If you know the battery has a charge, unplug the AC adapter and connect the battery. If it turns on then you can be sure you have a bad DC jack or a bad AC adapter.

7. Replace the switch board and/or the flex flat cable that runs from the switch board to the mainboard.

8. If your laptop has another button that turns it on, such as an internet button, try that button instead of the normal power button.

Hope one of these ideas helps.

I have a compaq presario 2200. will not power on, tried removing battery, still will not power on.

If you attempted to turn it on with your ac adapter connected and the battery off and it did not turn on then try a different ac power adapter from a local pc shop or electronics store. If it turns on then replace the adapter. If it does not then it may be the dc jack or some other internal component. Good luck!

Laptop randomly shuts off

Since, the Battery is not inserted in the Computer and it turns off automatically even with a slight movement when running on the AC Adaptor, it shows that the issue is with the DC-in jack on the Computer.

Now, to ensure if the issue is with the DC-in jack or internal power circuitry, it's required to diagnose the Computer after running it on the Battery power.

Remove the Battery pack from the Computer and clean the metal contacts on the battery and the compartment then, reinsert the Battery and check if it's charging. If not, try using a replacement battery.

If the Computer keeps turning off even if running on the battery power then the issue is with internal power circuitry.

Bye and take care.
