I had the same problem on my scooter. I used tweezers to pull the key out and then i took the bottom portion of the key to ACE hardware store. They didnt think they could remake the key but the guy i worked with was awesome. he cut the new key and it started my scooter. worked perfectly and it only cost $2.50 !!!

The ignition switch itself is very easy to remove, after you unbolt the collinder/fender/control panel from the 4 wheeler, just unscrew the large ring on the outside where the key goes in and the hole switch will come off. then unplug the wire connectors that hold on the switch. Now you can try spraying WD40 into the key switch to loosen up the tumbler pins and turn the switch upside down to try tapping it so the broken key can slide downwards and come out (I would not try taking the switch apart, as you will end up having the pins fall out and not be able to put it back together properly). If the key does not come out after tapping it than you should take the switch to a lock smith and have them remove it for you and make a new key.

Chip key problem

If I understand correctly, you broke a key off in the ignition switch and a piece is still in it keeping you from inserting a good key. If that is the problem then the actual ignition lock assembly will need to be removed. That usually takes a specialized tool to do. I would take it to a locksmith or the motorcycle dealer to fix...don't mess with it! It will cost more in the long run.

My key broke off in my ignition switch and i need to know how to replace it

Pretty much takes a locksmith or mechanic to do this repair, it takes special tools, typically not purchased unless you do lots of repairs.

Go the the library and read the Chilton;s manual for replacing the ignition Key Lock Cylinder. It will show you what special tools that are needed with pictures as well
It is a long process to change and can not take the time to write 4 pages of instructions to you
copies of the pages from the book can be made there as well

Ignition switch

You need to remove the shroud so you can see the whole lock assembly.Once this is removed you should see a little silver retainer pin. While pushing in on the pin, rotate the lock with the key in it, until you feel the pin drop in. At this point you can start to pull the lock out. You may need a torx driver to unscrew some of the bolts, but there are no special tools needed to actually remove the lock assembly , besides a working key.
