Can you tell me which bus bar is for neutral, which for ground in the Square D #Q02L30SCP 30A Lug Load Center?

The ground bar is tied directly to the box and the neutral bar is insulated from the box.

if this is an auxiliary GFCI Spa Disconnect,
240 VAC, 50 Amp, then...
All of the following needs to be this way:
  • 4 wires from MAIN Circuit panel, into GFCI disconnect box, 2 hots, 1 Neutral, 1 ground
    • 2 hots go onto the disconnects Power Bus Bar for breaker
    • 1 white Nuetral goes to Isolated nuetral bus bar
    • 1 green Ground goes to ground lug directly on the box
  • 1 GFCI in the auxiliary disconnect box
    • The White Pigtail of the GFCI Breaker goes onto the Isolated Nuetral bus bar. There are now two wires there.
  • 4 wires come into box from Spa. (Unless the spa is Specifically a 3 Wire Connection Spa!)
    • 2 Hot/Line wires will go into the L1 & L2 lugs of the breaker respectively.
    • 1 White Nuetral Wire will go into breaker as well at the "Load Nuetral lug, usually marked as 'LN'.
      • It will NOT go on the Isolated Nuetral bus bar.
    • Green Ground wire will be connected to ground lug, 2 wires are now connected there.
  • Connections at spa will be respectively connected: the 2 hots on line 1 and line 2. White wire goes to Nuetralnd green ground will go to a Ground Lug, most likely to metal control box.
If it's not wired in this manner, it is wired WRONG.

I have a 200 amp homeline loadcenter with factory installed breaker the code inspector is telling me that it has to have a bonding screw however there is no tapped hole for a bonding screw. I read that...


For the neutral buss bar, a bonding screw goes through the buss bar into the box. Same for the ground buss bar. Usually, neutral does not meet ground until the meter, so there may only be a bonding screw for the ground buss bar. Look carefully, check with electricians.

I have a 200 amp homeline loadcenter with a factory installed breaker and the code inspector is telling me we need a bonding screw however there is no tapped hole for a bonding screw


I checked my code sheet, and only the ground bus is to be bonded to the box. The box comes with a screw that will bond the bus to the box through a bus mounting hole, the threaded hole is down there, behind the bus. The neutral does not get bonded to the box.

Do you have any wiring in the panel already? The green or bare copper wires will go the ground bar which will be screwed directly on to the inside of the box. The ground bar will be in contact with the box. If the mains are wired into the main lugs the main ground will have a green stripe or it may be bare multi strand aluminum. All ground wires go under screws individually on the ground bar. The white wires go onto the neutral bar. The neutral bar will be affixed to the inside of the box on plastic isolators that do not allow contact with the metal panel. The main neutral will have a white stripe or it may be solid white. The neutrals will go under individual screws. The hot wires will now go under the screws of the breakers. All screws must be tightned firmly but not as tight as you possibly can. The hots will be black or red. The wires should alternate black, red, black, red. Begin with black on the top two breakers the one left and the one on the right. The hot wires will be either black or red.

This work requires a license (or qualified person) everywhere that the National Electrical Code is enforced.

If you're asking how to wire a single phase 200 amp panel from a larger, 3 phase panel of the same voltage - ONE way is to install a 2 pole - 200 amp breaker into the 3 phase panel. Provide 4 correctly sized conductors with the correct insulation in a cable or conduit between the 3 phase panel and the 200 amp single phase panel. Two of these conductors should be black and red (for 120/208 volt system) and connect to the 2 pole - 200 amp circuit breaker terminals, the third should be white and connected to the neutral bus bar. The forth should be green and is connected to the neutral bus bar as well but *only if* it is "service equipment" If it is a "main or sub panel", the green wire should be connected to the ground bus bar. The other end of the conductors should be terminated in a "main lug only" 200 amp panel. The back and red connect to "line 1" and "line 2" bus lugs, the white to the neutral bus bar that is NOT electrically connected to the panel enclosure (do not install the screw or strap between the bar and enclosure). The green must be connected by installing a separate bar that is securely fastened both mechanically and electrically to the enclosure for ground connections.

There is a great deal going on here - and plenty of variables that can change how to do this work, safely and correctly. This is an example of just ONE of many different ways to do the work for a particular installation. There is no one way that works for all situations. If your situation does not support this method - you will have an unsafe installation and subject the building and people in it to a dangerous fire / safety hazard.

Please, consult a licensed electrician before attempting this work.

Here's a picture of a messy amateur installation:

Look closely and find the power feeder conductors entering the panel on the bottom. The white rises up to the right and terminates in the "neutral" bus lug on the top right. The black also rises up to the right and terminates in the left "line" bus lug on the left. The red wire rises up to the left and terminates in the "line" bus lug on the right - just below the neutral lug. Finally, the ground rises left and terminates in a separate ground bar that is secured directly to the back of the upper left side of the panel box in pre-tapped holes for this purpose.

Since you are supplying this panel from your home's panel, you MUST keep the neutral and ground feeders separated in this panel (even though they will both probably originate from the neutral bar in your home's service panel). You must NOT install the long "bond" screw through the neutral bar in to the panel box. If the long bond screw is already installed, you must REMOVE it (usually this screw it shipped loose in a bag with a tag on it).

When the picture was taken, the flash reflected back making the right side of the neutral bar difficult to see - so I can't determine if the screw is installed there or not. When connecting circuits to this panel, the hot wires will of course go to the circuit breaker terminals, but the neutral and ground wires must not be mixed. The ground wires (and ONLY the ground wires) must terminate in the ground bar. The neutral wires (and ONLY the neutral wires) must terminate in the neutral bus bar. The person that wired this panel has mixed them. This would be a dangerous situation if the the long bond screw mentioned above is installed in the neutral bar to bond it to the panel box.

What gauge wire do I need to lead into the BR816L125R load center? it is going to the feed through lugs off my 200 amp service breaker.


Hi .. If the load center is next to the main panel you can use #2 copper or #1aught aluminum. You need to use 4 wires .. two hot, neutral, and ground. And in your load center you will need a 125amp main breaker and you will need to keep the neutral bus separate from the box, do not use the bonding screw. You will then need to install a ground bar to the back of the box for the ground wires connection.

First & Third space in GE TPL412RP are hot, second &fourth not


This is not 3 phase power...you have two legs of 120 ...the red wire? This leg is not a voltage source therefore that wire is not going to fire up that lug ...you only need 3 wires to make this circuit and a neutral is a redundant leg for this box

First switch off the power at the main breaker or pull the meter from the meter socket. If you flip off the main breaker and it is mounted in the same breaker panel, just be aware that the wires above the breaker are still hot. Connect the white wire to the neutral bar, the green wire to the ground bar, and the black wire to the breaker. Then tilt the breaker to get the front black lug under the bar and push the back of the breaker onto the lug on the bus bar.
