What is the year of manufacture of my Jones treadle sewing machine? and the approximate value?

Serial number R52688. It is black with decals on it similar to a singer machine. It is set into a fold out wooden cabinet with a bakerlite and metal handle on the front door

Value is very subjective depending on its rarity, overall physical condition and operation, the accessories included, etc.

I have an Elgin sewing machine Rockford Illinois with a serial number C201611. Treadle machine complete 6 drawer cabinet. Could you tell me the year it was manufactured and possibly a value?

Supposedly Elgin was not in business that long so it could be hard to date the machine based on the serial number. The Free Sewing Co which was actually in Rockford Illinois may have bought out Elgin (they were in Elgin Illinois about 50 miles from Rockford). Both were to the northwest of Chicago.

This may help:

Unless it is a particularly rare item in very nice and working condition, it will not command a remarkable price.

I have an old Singer Treadle Sewing Machine but do not know where to locate the serial number to help find the value. Where should it be located?

Hard to say. Serial numbers can be found almost anywhere. Sometimes they are stamped in the metal of the base, maybe under the machine. Check the edge of the base if it is installed in a cabinet. Machines like this usually have only a serial number, no model number. The serial number will designate the model number on this list:

Don't expect it to be worth a whole lot of money. Most of the time, their biggest value is to the owner who can continue to use these awesome machines for many years yet.

Approximate value

Elaine. AH882832 is NOT a model number... that is the serial number. First you need to identify the the model of the machine. You do that visually. Go here and follow the instructions.
http://www.sandman-collectibles.com/id-singer-machines.htm

Then you have to determine condition. Clearly a machine that has been well used is rusty and the decals all worn off is not going to be worth much. More elaborate decals tend to be more desirable. But basically most people want it to run and sew perfectly. Of course the more accessories/attachments and manuals you have the better.
