Toshiba Laptop turns itself back on after being shut down

Brand new Toshiba notebook turns itself on within seconds of being shut down. I have to take the battery off to stop it restarting. Also when I restart it often says there has been a system error and requires diagnosis. Works fine otherwsise although when it sleeps if not used for a period it closes down all open applications and they have to be re opened.

Hello there,
Unfortunately, something may be shorting out at the hinges causing the DS to shut down automatically. It is probably a ribbon cable damage. Try contacting Nintendo to try to get it fixed.
I hope this helps! Thumbs up are always welcome.

Toshiba Satellite L300 shuts down when ac power plugged in

How about this step, try to turn off the laptop itself. Remove the cables and battery just like what you did before, then press and hold the power button for 10 seconds. Then, reinsert the cables and battery on the laptop and then turn on the computer itself. If the laptop restarts, shuts down or freezes with the AC power cables, two things that you should seriously consider. It might be the power cable itself, AC cable port or the circuitry going to the motherboard. And since you have cleaned out the fan and heat sink, you have isolated that problem. Have you plug-in another power cable on your laptop? If yes, then check if it works. Otherwise, the main issue is that the AC port is loose or the circuitry of AC adapter going to the motherboard is not not working. You can re-open the unit and check the circuitry from the AC port going to the motherboard. You may check the circuitry from AC port to the power supply if it is ok. If symptom persist, please contact your local dealer...

How old is the battery? Most laptops and notebooks only have a 3 year battery life, and if you have run it down too far, or never ran it down at all, the life can be even shorter than that. With nicad they say it is best to use them until they stop working. But lithium batteries are best kept topped up I hear. If the batter is over 2 years old, time to replace I think.

Overheating

hi thanks for using fixya!

What is the model of your laptop? Is it brand new?
If its brand new, I suggest that you bring it back to your retailer to resolve the issue. If its old, I suggest that you should check the battery pack, perhaps you need to change the battery, or it should be send for maintenance, especially if you have for more that 2 years.

Good luck! If you need further assistance, let me know!

pls rate me positively! thanks!

The laptop will not start up

This sounds like a bad battery. If the battery has a short within it, it will cause the power system to shut down. Replace the battery and see if that works.

My PC not turn on

The Toshiba Pocket PC e330 is shipped with an Enabled security feature, which switches off the batteries. In order to be able to turn on the unit, the Battery Switch must be in a battery "Supply" position. Please check if the Battery Switch is in a Stop position or Supply position. The Battery Switch can be found on the lower left edge of the unit, next to the "DC-In Socket". Please see the below diagram The Battery Switch supplies or stops power to the Pocket PC. When using the Pocket PC for the first time, slide this switch to the left with the stylus pen. If you have further questions, please refer to the Instruction Manual page 2-3 (20 of 105).
