Question about Panasonic DVD-S35 DVD Player

Can't get a disk to play

When I insert the disk, it automatically shuts the dvd player off. The dvd player remains on without a disk.

No code beginning with H comes up because it shuts off quickly. Also on the display when there is no disc, there is a small letter c displayed in addition to NoDISC display.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Re: Can't get a disk to play

Bought one of these at a local surplus barn, coming from active duty in a classroom, which exhibited this behavior. Researching online and finding the spindle motor to be the usual culprit, I opened the case, ejected the tray, and proceeded to wiggle the spindle. I threw a disc in and gave it a half-spin; it visibly tried to spin the disc but gave up and shut off again. I tried again, giving it a bit more generous a spin. This time, starting off slow, it picked up speed, and successfully read the disc. Ejecting the disc, turning the unit off and on, etc did not not change the behavior; it continues to load and read discs without problem.

So, to summarize: Open the case, throw in a disc, and give it a good spin before it tries to spin up. If the spindle motor is still alive, it may just be stuck or stalled somehow, and may be fixed with a little push. Note, though, that I've had this player for less than 24 hours, so I can't attest to the longevity of this fix.

Re: Can't get a disk to play

I have the exact same problem. On Monday the DVD player worked fine and then when we went to use it on Tuesday it just shuts off by itself when I put in a DVD. And like you experienced it stays on with out a DVD in it.

What did you finally do to fix it?

Re: Can't get a disk to play

I've seen failure of the spindle motor to cause problems like this. Problem can also be a leaky diode in the power supply.

I am looking for a code to unlock a PANASONIC VIERA DMR-EZ48V to play all regions (without using a universal remote and without buying anything if possible)

Turn On player with no disc inserted
While pressing Shift on the remote press Setup
Press Enter twice
Move the cursor to Other
Enter the appropriate four-digit region setting, beginning with 000
Press Enter
Press Return twice
Switch unit Off for at least 3 seconds
or try this

A) Turn on the dvd with no disk inside, wait until no-disk is displayed, Press "0009" + press "ok"
on the screen you can now see the information of region and version

B) Turn on the dvd with no disk inside, wait until no-disk is displayed,
Press "0086000"
Press "ok" button

Now the DVD is regionfree ( region 0)
(The last digit in the code is the region
for example(NNN) NNN-NNNNis region 2)

DVD player automatically stops and turns itself off, how do I prevent this?

Warning: Laser inside! If you want to open it up and troubleshoot, make sure you don't point toward your eyes.
Check the nylon laser carriage to see if it slides laser from center to outside line. If it sticks, it's probably shutting down from not properly reading a disk.

Model LGXBR446 VCR/DVD Recorder, Have to go input on the TV to get the unit to Play, Does not play Automatically when turned on an disk or VCR inserted, Also the color is not correct

I think I know what the "skin tones blue" problem is-you probabaly have the composite video(for the old video-on-one-cord format) connected to the blue of the component video input.(component video is the red/blue green RCA type connectors).

DVP-NS30 shows "CANNOT PLAY" message when DVD inserted

Follow this procedure to troubleshoot if the DVD player cannot read or play the inserted disc.
  1. Ensure the inserted disc is compatible with the DVD player.IMPORTANT: Refer to the operating instructions supplied with the product for a list of compatible disc. Manuals are available online in the Manuals/Specs/Warranty section of the Sony® eSupport Web site.
  2. Use a soft cloth to clean the disc.
  3. Examine the disc for any cracks or scratches that might be interfering with playback.
  4. Attempt to play another disc.NOTES:
    • If another disc plays in the DVD player, then the previous disc is faulty.
    • Some recordable discs may not play correctly because of the quality of the recording, the physical condition of the disc, or the characteristics of the recording device or authoring software used.

  5. Remove the disc from the DVD player.
  6. Turn off the DVD player.
  7. Unplug the power cord of the DVD player from the AC outlet.
  8. Let the DVD player remain without power for 1 minute.
  9. Plug the power cord back into the AC outlet.
  10. Turn on the DVD player.
  11. Insert the disc into the DVD player.
  12. Attempt to play the disc.
If still persists, its time for your device to get serviced.

Playing recordable dvd

My Emerson won't play anything except DVD Movies, never has, wasn't suppose too. Make your movies in DVD Video format and it will read them fine (unless it's broke). I make movies all the time and play them back in mine. It reads DVD-R, DVD+R, and in duel layered. It will not read RW disks!

Man I've every problem you can imagine with DVD Players. I've found when the disk gets stuck, as long as it's not jammed. You can turn the unit off or unplug it. Plug it back in but DON'T TURN IT ON! Instead hit the eject button and the drive should open the drive without trying to read the disk.
