Burn a Data CD or DVD in Windows 7 Using Media Player

You can burn a data CD or data DVD in Windows 7 using Media Player. An audio CD can contain just approximately eight minutes of music. On the other hand, if you burn a data CD or data DVD in Windows 7 using Media Player, it will be able to hold numerous hours of music. Video files and pictures can also be added to the data discs.
When you burn a data CD or data DVD in Windows 7, the Windows Media Player does not transform the selected files to a different format prior to saving them to a blank data disc, so the files stay in the compressed condition. This allows you to put much more items on a single disc.As the format of the files is not changed, the quality of the files remains the same.

You can burn a data CD or data DVD in Windows 7 using Media Player as follows:
  • Click Start.
  • Click All Programs.
  • Select Windows Media Player.
  • Click the Burn tab in the Player Library.
  • Click Burn options and select Data DVD or CD.
  • Insert a blank disc into the CD or DVD burner of your computer.
  • Close the AutoPlay dialog box if it comes into sight.
  • Some people have more than one CD drive in their computer. If you have multiple CD drives in your computer too, select the one you would like to use in the navigation window.
  • Look for the songs you want to burn.
  • In order to make your burn list, drag the songs from the details pane in the center of the Player Library to the list pane which is on its right side.
  • You can also change the order of the items in the burn list by dragging them upward or downward in the list.
  • To remove a song from your list, simply right-click on the item and click on Remove from list.
  • After you finish making your list, click upon Start burn.
It can take a while to burn a data disc. If your selected items cannot fit in one disc, you also have the choice of burning the rest of the items to a different disc. A data DVD is not the same as a DVD-Video disc ex. the movie DVD you buy or rent from the store.

We directly cannot copy a file from hard drive to DVD, we need a DVD writer to burn it on the DVD disk. Hard drive is a removeable device and we can read and write data as we need but DVD is a non-removeable disk and we can only write it for once, the process of writing or copying file to the DVD through a DVD-writer is called burning.

There are many different kinds of DVD’s, and knowing what kind you would like to copy is important before making the decision to burn. The process used to burn DVD’s usually depends on the kind of DVD but three common types are used the most when burning. They are: Burning Data DVD’s, Storing Multimedia Files on a DVD, and burning Commercial DVD’s. We’ll take a look at these three methods below.

Burning Data to DVD’s
The easiest way to burn DVD’s is by copying everyday normal data. This includes ordinary files like documents, spreadsheets, and database files and is the easiest method because no special decryption software or regionally specific encoding is needed. Any computer with a DVD drive will easily play these burned DVD’s.
It is a good idea to download some of the multiple free DVD burning programs available to test them out. You may also want to check out commercial DVD burning software available for purchase. Most newly purchased computers already come with a DVD burner and burning software installed and ready to use. All you have to do is start the DVD burning software, make sure to select DATA DVD as the type of DVD to be burned, then follow the prompts. A full length DVD contains around 4.7GB of data and can be burned in around 20 minutes with an average DVD burner. Higher speed DVD burners will be able to burn your data much more quickly.

Burning Multimedia Files to DVD’s
While the process of burning audio and video (multimedia) files to a DVD is basically the same as burning data DVD’s, multimedia DVD’s require additional thought before copying. This is because you will most likely want to add some extra features when burning a precious wedding video or converting old VHS tapes to a friendlier and longer lasting format.

The DVD authoring tools available today make burning multimedia DVD’s with a professional touch a breeze. Convenient features like Chapters (to skip to a specific section of longer videos), Menu pages (perfect for a wedding video), and Titles (to index multiple TV shows or videos already stored on your computer) gives everyone the ability to burn polished DVD’s easily. Subtitles that you create yourself can even be added by some DVD burning software and Digital Rights Management (DRM) may also be available. DRM allows you to create commercial grade videos that are tough for others to easily copy to another DVD.

Burning Commercial DVD’s
Burning copies of commercial DVD’s is one of the primary uses of DVD burners and is enjoyed by many people who own them. While it may not be illegal to burn copyrighted material for your own use, in most areas of the world it is illegal to make copies of commercial DVD’s to sell or give away to others. You can still burn copyrighted material, including commercial DVD’s, if the burned copy is for personal use. Some uses may include creating a DVD archive or backup, or having an extra copy available for use in the computer or car’s DVD player.

A commercial DVD can be copied by many tools, but decoding software specifically designed to remove (”crack”) digital rights management will be needed in addition to a regular DVD burner and DVD burning software. Besides copying the commercial DVD’s data and decoding any digital rights management, it is also important to note that most of the time you will need to shrink the file first.

The majority of commercial DVD’s hold between 7 and 8.4GB worth of data and are known as dual layer DVD’s. A normal blank DVD will hold 4.7GB of data, which means the larger amount of data on a commercial DVD needs to be compressed before it will fit on a blank DVD. After a commercial DVD has been cracked and the files compressed, ordinary DVD burning software can be used to burn the new DVD. Simply start your favorite DVD burning program then follow the prompts.

Since the process of copying commercial DVD’s can seem daunting to someone doing it for the first time, several companies have developed suites of DVD copying programs that simplify the process. These software tools will usually crack and decode the DVD, compress the files small enough to fit on a blank DVD, and can even add extra features before burning everything onto a normal DVD.

Now that you know how to burn DVD’s, you’re well on your way to burning your first one. Start by checking out free DVD burning programs as mentioned earlier, or just download one and jump right in. Remember to bookmark this article as reference should you run into any problems.

Have fun and happy DVD burning!

Best Regards

Before you decide to burn a DVD, it is important to know what kind of DVD you would like to burn. The type of DVD will usually determine the process you use to go about burning. The three most common types of DVDs to burn are Data DVD's, Multimedia Files to a DVD and making a copy and burning a commercial DVD. The burning process will be determined by the type of data you want to burn. You could do three possible actions:
  1. Burn Data to a DVD
  2. Burn Multimedia Files to a DVD
  3. Copy and Burn a Commercial DVD
Burning Data to a DVD Ordinary data such as documents, spreadsheets, database files and backup files require only general DVD burning programs. The data that you burn can be viewed on any type of computer with a DVD drive. Popular DVD burning software programs include Nero 9 and Super DVD Creator 9.8.8. You will need to purchase or download any of the DVD burning software titles that are available on the market. For some computers that are purchased new, DVD burning software already comes installed and configured for your machine and DVD burner. You just need to open up your DVD burner software, choose to burn a data DVD and follow the instructions. You can usually burn a full length DVD (about 4.7 GB of data) in less than 20 minutes and even quicker with high speed DVD burners. Burning Multimedia Files to a DVD Multimedia files are usually larger files that include video either recorded from a TV set, camcorder or digital camera or downloaded from the internet. You may also want to convert an old VHS tape to a more user friendly DVD. With today's DVD authoring tools, you can easily burn multimedia files and give them professional features such as adding a title or menu page or cataloguing many TV shows that you have already saved on your computer's hard drive. Some DVD burning software packages even allow you to add subtitles that you can create yourself. You can add DRM (digital rights management) with the help of your burning software, if you are creating commercial videos that you would want to make difficult to copy. Copying and Burning a Commercial DVD Many people use their DVD burner to burn copies of commercial DVDs. In most parts of the world, it is illegal to copy a commercial DVD and sell or distribute it. However, you may want to make a copy for archiving purposes. There are many tools that can copy a commercial DVD. However, apart from the normal DVD burner and DVD burning software, you will also need special software that can decode or crack the digital rights management. It is also important to note that besides cracking the code and copying the data of the commercial DVD, you may need to shrink the file. Most commercial DVDs are dual layer and have between 7 and 8.4 GB of data. These files must be compressed to fit on a normal 4.7 GB DVD. Once you have cracked the commercial DVD and compressed it, you can use ordinary DVD burning software to burn your DVD.

DVD Builder

You have to use the burning software like nero to create a DVD from a .wmv file.Start your nero software and select which file you want to burn .select Dvd video .now it will ask you to add the video click on Add ,when adding the files is over click on Next. Now it will ask for burning speed select the lowest speed ,it will burn the cd with good finally click on Burn .and nero will start burning the cd when 100% is over click on finish ..that's it

Now one problem can occur while adding the files, that nero may not add the .wmv to resolve this problem use video converter to convert the .wmv files to any other file that nero support like mpg..and when done follow the procedure given above.
Low feed backs hurt my ratings and I am tring to help you with your problem,so let me know that the information i given you is helpfull or not.
