Question about ION Audio VCR 2 PC USB VHS Video to Computer Converter

1 Answer

Picture and sounds cracks when using vhs tapes, but works fine when I use the vhs-c with converter. Why do my full size vhs tapes not work? I tried on both my laptop and pc and it does the same thing. At first I thought it was that my tape was old, but I've tried 5 diffrent vhs tapes and they all the do the same thing.

If you are feeling adventurous, you might expose the VCR mechanism and with pure alcohol and cotton swabs, try to clean the stationary tape guides. There shouldn't be many of them on if they are contaminated, they can randomly 'catch and release' the tape causing the effect you mention. From your previous experiments, it doesn't sound like a dirty or defective head but you might inspect it for any deposits and carefully remove them with the alcohol/swab combination. If you see no deposits, I would leave the head alone; they don't really like to be touched by anything unless necessary.
Good luck-

I have a couple VHS-C tapes that drag

This may be caused by a faulty adapter. 1. try playing in the camera. 2. try a different tape. 3. try a different adapter.99% this is a problem with the adapter or the tape. It really sounds like the tape isn't turning freely, which can be caused by a brake sticking, or spindle in the tape or adapter.

Did you try cleaning the tape head of the player?

For some reason be sure all the gear or any mechanical inside the player is freely rotating.

Adjust the VCR tracking to get a good picture.

TV recorder wont record from TV. All cables work and are plugged in

WHAT "" system needs to be calibrated and then configured ""........""It works fine otherwise""
Disconnect the VCR from anything. place a vhs tape with information [picture of something you don't want any more or a vhs tape that you want erased] in the machine. The tape at the back left TAB must be covered to promit recording. turn machine on,shub the tape in, press record. if after a time and you REWIND, and the begining is blanked of picture information...........the recorder [VHS] is working. looking to see the cables and how they are connected.

Panasonic AG - 196

well danny,

that cam is an analog. well, as long as there are full size VHS VCR's there is going to be full sized VHS camcorders as well. The convenience of dealing with only one tape format is undeniable. Not having to convert the tape out of the camcorder and into your VCR, without wires or adaptors or losing quality can seem more important to some people, than the overall size of the unit. By utilizing the optional professional wide-angle lens you can cover all the bases. This unit is straightforward and easy to operate and the results are top notch too! A full-size VHS camcorder, the AG-196U is ideal for those just getting started in video, as well as for educational and institutional applications. It offers a 14: 1 two-speed power zoom lens, low-light capability, Audio/Video fade, has advanced recording and playback functions as well as digital effects to meet almost any application. Extremely sensitive 1/3" CCD with 420, 000 pixels provides outstanding picture quality, even under low-light conditions.

you'd feel like a professional with this cam.

cheers

VHS Recording Tape

not much of a help but sounds like your record head is bad on the vhs heads,

use cleaning tape try that, if that fixes great, if it helps but not fully there, you might have to clean them by hand with very soft paper town and rubbing alcohol rub side to side very easy , if none of the above work you have a bad record head or record board, not worth repair vs cost
good luck
