Why is my Olympus FE430 camera zoom lens jammed?

The zoom/telephoto lens is partway out and whirring as it tries to open/close (not sure which). It is an Olympus FE430. Have removed and re-inserted the battery but no luck.

Either it has received a knock or other accidental blow, or else there is foreign matter (dirt, crumbs, grit etc) in the mechanism. It would cost far more than a replacement camera to have it serviced, I'm afraid, and is certainly not the kind of task to be attempted without expert knowledge.

Testimonial: "Thanks very much for that. It was sadly what I feared!!"

Why wont my Olympus zuiko 300mm lens zoom to max length?

Most camera's can't focus when the aperture number is above 5,6. Although your tele zoom starts at 4,8, it reaches the 5,6 at about 150 mm. So from there and up it can't auto focus. You still should be able to focus manually, but for wild life or sports pictures, it is useless.

Lens

Sorry. It is broken. The lens was most likely jammed on start up when trying to open or close when shutting down. The really bad news is that the cost to repair it is close to the cost of a new camera. (I have had several like this, casio, sony canon, nikon and olympus.)

Problem useing the zoom on Olympus 70-300mm Lense

No, but it appears that there is a bad tooth or something in the gear mechanism of the lens. Internal issue, hopefully over time it will "go away." Cross fingers and hope it does not get any worse. I would carefully shake the heck out of it to possibly dislodge what ever it is.

Can this lens fit an olympus C 5060 ?

No, it will not. The C-5060 does not use interchangable lenses. I cannot tell from the picture that you have attached what cameras this will fit. It it was, in fact made by Olympus, it would appear to belong to their line of 35mm film cameras.

Blurry pictuers

First of all, tele-multipliers or tele-converters do not have the greatest optics in the world, and are usually fine for close up images but not much else. Secondly, they do restrict the amount of light coming into the camera which could interfere with the internal metering. Third, you have additional lens surfaces to get dirty. To fix the problem, start with the easy one, and clean all lens surfaces meticulously with a soft lint free cloth. If that doesn't fix it, try shooting non-moving objects in brightly lit areas. If you are still getting blurry pictures, try using the tele-converter on a close-up image within the focal length of the lens combination. If that doesn't work, give the teleconverter to someone you don't like and go buy a good quality 50-135mm zoom lens. Vivitar, Sigma, or other similar lenses are good quality and are very reasonably priced.

Zoom Error

I have had the same problem with my camera. It mostly occurs when my battery is going dead. It will go in and out while trying to turn the camera on and off. It will get stuck open and stuck closed and sometimes half way.

I put new batteries in, and it works like a charm. I can now tell my battery is going dead when it starts to behave that way.

Olympus Camera

if you go to the olympusamerica.com/store you will see the telephoto lens but you will need the cla-10 adapter to use it with your camera
although you do get more telephoto with it... you can turn the digital zoom on in the camera and go to 90+ times zoom

How does a telephote lens work on the C2000Z???

You must have the lens extended all the way or you get a halo effect as if your taking the picture through a tube. This might be interesting in some instances. I have the 1.4x for my 2000z and it works very well although it is a little cumbersome.

Telephoto lens for digital camera

It will not work because it is the wrong thread size. Here is info on the Olympus TCON-17 lens for the 5050: TCON-17 (1.7X) Telephoto Conversion Lens Extend the capabilities of your digital camera with the TCON-17 Telephoto Converter lens. This telephoto lens will increase the magnification of your subject by 1.7x when your camera lens is set to the telephoto position. This will help you bring in the subject when you can't get closer, for example, shooting sports or concerts. Please see below for additional items required to attach this lens to your camera. The following models require the CLA-1 and 43-55mm Step-Up Ring: C-2000/2020/2040/3000/3020/3030/3040/4000/4040/5050 Zoom ....... The video lens is too small (diameter). If you found one with a 43mm thread and put it on the 5050, you would experience severe vignetting (clipping of the corners of the photo).
