Change it in your sound properties.
Windows XP: Start->Control Panel->Sounds and Audio Devices->Audio tab->Change Sound Recording to your other input device and click OK.

If this is Vista, let me know and I'll post directions for that.

Where is/are the mic(s) on an Acer H233H display?

The Acer H233H does not have a microphone built into the monitor. Thus you do not have to put tape over the microphone. It does have integrated down-ward firing speakers; the speaker jack is next to the power cord on the back of the monitor. Make sure to connect the included audio cord to the Lime Green audio (speaker) out jack on your computer. All of the jacks on the monitor point down.

If this monitor had a microphone and the blue 3.5 mm audio port, you could keep the microphone disabled simply by not connecting the cable between the monitor and the computer's microphone port.

Acer has the documentation for the H233H monitor in their support section. The direct link to the manual is http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/Document/User%20Manual/User%20Manual_Acer_1.0_A_A.zip?acerid=633765057605336286&Step1=MONITOR&Step2=H%20SERIES&Step3=H233H&OS=ALL&LC=en&BC=ACER&SC=PA_6 . This file has the manual in a PDF inside of a compressed folder. You'll need to open the folder to read the manual.

I hope this helps. Web cameras often have microphones. Some laptops often have an integrated web camera; thus they have a microphone mounted on the bezel of the laptop. Blocking that microphone with tape might be useful. I'd block the camera too. For USB connected web cameras, simply unplug the data cable from the computer when you aren't using the camera to disable the microphone.

How do I disable the internal microphone on a Dell e6400?

Hi Jamiescoffee,

You may want to follow the below steps to disable Microphone:
(1)Right click on the speaker icon in the status bar.
(2)Select Recording device.
(3)Right click on Microphone array and disable it.

However, if you want to enable this later on you may just right click on the same screen and select show disabled device. Right click on the device and enable it.

Thanks and Regards.

My computer doesn't see mic when I plug in to the jack

First, did you plug in the microphone when the computer was off or not? If you connected the microphone while the computer was on, it may not have seen the new device to load the drivers. If the computer found the microphone when it was turned on, then the problem could be driver or hardware related.

You need to make sure that the computer is seeing this as the recording device. Click Start and select Control Panel from the right hand column. Click on the Hardware and Sound link. Select the Manage Audio Devices link under Sound. Click on the Recording tab. Is the microphone listed as plugged in? If it isn't, then the microphone isn't making good contact with the jack, has a bad wire or the jack isn't working. If you have another computer, check if the microphone works on it. That will rule out the microphone being faulty. Next go back to the starting Hardware and Sound Control Panel. Look for the link to the Device Manager under Devices. Expand the section for audio inputs and outputs. Check for a red triangle with an x or yellow triangle with an exclamation point. This indicates a problem with the audio drivers. Check with Toshiba for the audio drivers for your computer and the current service pack for Vista. You may need to uninstall the current driver and then reinstall that driver. A final option may be to check if the external audio input was disabled in the BIOS. When you turn on the computer, you should see a screen that tells you how to access the BIOS. (Usually this is F1, Esc, Del or F2). I find pressing the appropriate key repeatedly after turning on the computer doesn't always work. If you get to the Windows splash screen, turn off the computer at the login screen and try again.

If the microphone is plugged in, set it as the default device. You should be able to record with your software.

If the microphone still doesn't work with this computer and does work with another machine, you will probably be better off using a USB microphone or a USB audio adapter (USB to 3.5 mm microphone and speaker jacks). The wiring of the jack is probably faulty and it's not worth the effort to repair.

I hope this helps.

External mic wont work

The A/V out jack is for output from the camera, not input to the camera. The camera has no way to accept sound from another device. You can record onto another device and then combine the soundtracks using video editing software on a computer, or even completely replace the camera's audio track. However this has to be done on a computer, not in the camera.

ATR3350 Microphone: Battery in. Plugged into laptop. Recorded video. ATR3350 Mic is ignored. Audio is still recorded from my Logitech Webcam software. How does this thing work?

You need to tell your computer which microphone / sound source to use.
In he absence of other instructions it is defaulting to the built in microphone.
Normally your sound-card software should detect a new device plugged in and ask you to confirm it. However if it is not doing so you may need to change the audio settings.
How to correct this will vary slightly depending on which operating system you are using.

Using a microphone with computer

To use any microphone with your computer you will need to enable it in control panel. The following instructions are for Windows XP but are broadly similar for Vista and Win7

Click START, CONTROL PANEL, SOUNDS & AUDIO DEVICES

Click VOICE

Now click the VOLUME button in the SOUND RECORDING BOX. Here you need to SELECT microphone as an input source for recording (as opposed to un-checking mute in the playback controls). If your webcam/ microphone is built in to the laptop there should also be a volume control called 'Internal MIC' - disable it by placing a check-mark in the mute box.

NOTE if microphone (or internal MIC) is not listed in the 2 sets of volume controls click OPTIONS, PROPERTIES on the tool-bar and place a check against microphone in the list entitled 'show the following volume controls' and then click OK.

That should be it but it is possible you may also need to turn off the microphone in the software for your web-cam.

How do i get my computer to recognize that the device in my audio jack is a microphone, and then use this input microphone instead of the realtek built-in microphone that i have for skype and googlephone?

Go to Control Panel to "Sound and Audio Devices"
Select the Audio tab, select the device you want.
Sometimes, you have to go as far as going to the Device manager
(right click My Computer/Properties/device Manager) and select the microphone under the Multimedia options and disable it.
This should disable the ON BOARD microphone built in.
Then you can plug yours in the MIC jack.

good luck and don't forget to vote!!!

NO WIRELESS CONNECTION

I am aboutsure about the question, but what i understood is wireless switch location

First close your laptop, then look the front view where the speaker is located, From the left

1.Speakers Left and right speakers deliver stereo audio
output.

2 Power indicator Lights up when the computer is on.

3 Battery indicator Lights up when the battery is being charged
.
4 Bluetooth communication
button/indicator (for
selected models)
Press to enable/disable the Bluetooth
function. Indicates the status of Bluetooth
communication (optional).

5 Wireless communication
button/indicator
Press to enable/disable the wireless function.
Indicates the status of wireless LAN
communication (optional).

6 Line-in jack Accepts audio line-in devices (e.g., audio CD
player, stereo walkman).

7 Mic-in jack Accepts inputs from external microphones.

So your wireless switch is the 5th one from the left. Locate it and turn on the wireless, and try to connet to the router.
Try this, hope it may work,
