i would double check the wiring to make sure it is getting 208 volts to the fan, double check your capacitor wiring. make sure the cap is the size rated on the motor. sounds like maybe a missing or burned wire and it running on a lower voltage and overheating and shutting down

The loud buzzing noise if you have heat pump. May be comming from your reversing valve. To quiet this down. Turn off power to outside unit and squirt some oil into the reversing valve coil area. The coil slides onto a shaft this shaft has corroded a liitle and does not let the valve center itself. Alittle oil on the shaft help and quiets this down. DO REMOVE THE COIL WITH THE INSIDE AIR HANDLER POWER ON IF YOU HAVE POWER TO THE THE COIL AND REMOVE IT IT WILL BURN IT UP. yOU CAN JUST UNPLUG THE COIL IF YOU LIKE. RUSS

I have a Goodman CK18-1B ac unit.outside fan will run for awhile then just shut off, compressor stays running like it should

Are you heating or cooling? If cooling is the compressor overheating? Some outdoor fans run only when condenser reaches a certain temperature. If it is in fact a problem, a capacitor is much cheaper than a motor. Replace the cap, if it fixed it, awesome, if not, you compressor will be happy. Honestly does sound like the motor but go cap first. Best wishes!!

My goodman unit (1994) makes the loud noise, like a buzzing noise. The unit works, the blower blows air into the house, the air is cold, but the outside fan that blows across the condenser piping isn'

you need to replace your condensing fan motor. the noise you are hearing is the compressor working against a lot of pressure because the heat is building up in you condensing unit. Prolonged operation without an operating condensing fan motor will cause your compressor to burn up, and then you will have the cost of a compressor changeout to the cost of a condensing fan motor.

I have a new lg window air conditioner that is buzzing loudly when the compressor turns on. as soon as the compressor shuts off it stops buzzing. the buzzing noise also sounds like a playing card attached...

sounds as though the contactor is not pulling in tightly. but it also spunds as though the fan or fans might be hitting some thing . check them out shut the unit down and spin the fans and see if you hear something. if not then it could well be a contator .. But as I think a bit more could be lose fan, or compressor is not setting on it isloator bushings .

I need help with a buzzing sound in my air conditioner.

It is probably the compressor humming. They can make some funny noises especially on start for a while. If the unit is not cooling it may be the start capacitor or the comressor may be locked up.

3 year-old Goodman compressor/heat pump terribly loud @ start

Without being there to see it and have only your description in front of me, it sounds like the fan blade could be out of balance.......but it sounds more like a loose fan blade hub. Most Goodman units offer a minimum 5 year parts warranty. The Labor warranty is questionable, but the installing contractor or the Goodman Distributor should be able to give you that information. Of course this would cover manufacturer problems and not physical damage. As far as a history of this problem with Goodman..........I've seen it with every brand. If there is a problem getting it under warranty, you might be able to purchase the blade yourself. Before replacing the fan blade, I recommend disconnecting the motor wires from the contactor, tape off the ends and remember exactly where they were attached.....then start the unit to see if the noise is still evident, if so, it's probably your compressor. I recommend a certified repairman....not the one that quoted you $800.00. If you hear only the compressor start up and not the loud noise you are discribing, then try replacing the blade first.

I hope you find this information to be very helpful to you. :-)

Noisey compressor

Does it make the noise all of the time or just periodically? Does the outdoor fan run when it is making the noise. If the fan isn't running and the compressor is noisy at that time likely it is in defrost mode which is normal.

Carrier 58GS150-CB ignites but fan will not blow (Loud Buzzing)

The loud buzzing soud i found to be the fan blower motor. I removed the fan bracket assembly and sprayed a little WD-40 on the set screws and protruding shaft so that sqirrel cages could be removed. (Also marked position of set screws on shaft) once squirrel cages were removed I removed 4 motor mounting bolts. Cleaned sqirrel cages and housings with industrial strenghth rim cleaner to remove solid dirt and will replace motor and capacitor.
BTW thanks for nothing
