Question about BFG Technologies GeForce 8800 GT, PCI Express Video Card

1 Answer

BFG GeForce 8800 GT OC shows red and green screen with little white squiggly lines. It then sometimes locks up computer, sometimes goes to desktop and sometimes game keeps going but sound is stuck. Machine is a new DELL, has been working properly for a year and suddenly is showing this problem. Trying to figure out if the card is malfunctioning.

Did the driver thing (from www.nvidia.com). Then I replaced the card with a new BFG 9800 that is not overclocked and it works fine. Sending prior card to BFG for warranty repairs. Thanks..

Unless this happens only when you are using a particular program (Eg.a game), that usually means that the video adapter is faulty, and must be replaced.

Before replacing the video card try unplugging the card and plugging it back in the slot (unless you are talking about an onboard).

Try also reinstalling drivers with last update, and if you know how to do it , boot from an external disk, or reinstall Windows to test the system.

The problem will probably re-occurr, in that case replace the card.

Regards.

My card freezes up the computer and the screen shows pixels. It worked fine for a while then just stopped. I'm wondering if it's a driver issue. I have an HP m7330n media center.

this is probably a setting in the BIOS-setup you need to change. look within system/miscellaneous configurations for an option that defines which graphics adapter should be used as default. in normal circumstances there should be an auto-detect option...
