The drive motor makes a noise which is louder at higher speeds

The drive motor makes a noise which is louder as the speed increase. It does this even if it runs withoth the belt. It sounds like if some parts are not lubricated and has friction.

Thank you for your advise. I also went to a couple of electrical motor shops and they also advised me to replace the motor which cost over $200. I thought that I had nothing to lose and decided to fix it myself. I did it!! It was not easy because I am not a technician or mechanic. It took me 4 hours and the cost of the bearing $11. Most of the time I spent was trying to figure out how to remove the axle from the pulley and removing the old bearing. The threadmill is now excellent! By the way, I tried to log in with the temporary password you sent me but was not able to do so. Once again, thank you for your advise.

When I go at about 40miles(speed ) it's a loud the gears don't stick but the higher the speed the louder it get's need to kind of know what to tell a mechanic is to where to start to look.I doesn't

I would suspect it is a wheel bearing issue, if it sounds similar to a baseball card in the spokes of a bicycle, stays somewhat same pitch just louder with speed that is where I would look. Does noise go away or change when making turns?

My Epic 425 is getting louder and louder, a whirring noise, but can't seem to find maintenance help

Hi,

It sounds like you have a drive motoer failing. The only other place that can be load or making noise is the front and rear roller. The rollers bearings when failing make a "popping" or "clicking" noise, and increases as you speen up. The motor "growls", and the faster you go the noise is..... well loud. The way to confirm this is to remove the motor hood, then start the treadmill on power/speed level 3. Be very carefull, and use a broom stick (wooden) to put on the drive motor while it is running. You should be able to "feel" what you are hearing. You should then raise the speed, and you will then feel the increase as well.

The replacement motor is around $200.00.

Hope this helps

My Hawkins 44" fan makes a humming noise when the fan is going. The faster the speed the louder the noise. With light on only , no noise. My assumption is it is electrical. Any advice would be welcomed....

Unless it is really loud, the noise you describe is quite normal. Often, at higher speeds the whooshing of the blades will mask some of the motor sounds. we have found the Hunter fans to run the quietest.

I have a whirring or griding in my drivetrain. I can coast donw a hill and let the engine idle and I still get the noise. It doesn't sound any different going around corners and gets louder as the speed...

this sounds like(no pun intended) you have a wheel hub bearing assembly failing. they will start a whirring or humming noise and then a growling or grinding noise the worse they get. from your description it is a rotational noise and gets louder and maybe a higher pitch as the vehicle speed increases. have this checked out right away so no further damage is done. they are not cheap assemblies as most GM and Saturn vehicles have the ABS sensor built into them(if your Vue has ABS).

Trasmission

If you are sure the trans is the source of the noise take it to a trans repair shop and have them drive the car, if it is the trans and you keep driving it you can cause more damage to the components of the transmission and dramatically increase the repair cost, have it checked ASAP.
