Re: turns off when a signel is connected to it

Try to connect LCD to another computer.
If it is ok something then went wrong with your PC.
Either your display card defect or the CPU need to reinstall the OS (operating system).

Since the cable you're describing is a VGA cable with the 3-row, 15-pin configuration, it will be the 1:D-sub selection. The DVI choice is for HD TV or a display card with HD capability. The S-Video is more commonly used for higher clarity video signals--less than HD of course, but approximately 15% to 20% sharper than a co-axial cable signal. (Reason: co-axial cable has all the color sigs squashed together while s-video splits them out into separate feeds.)

My monitor will not turn on.

Since you just reconnected it to a computer, double check to see that all connectors, power and signal are well plugged in. Make sure you have not bent a pin (normally 15 pins) on the signal cable connector, where it connects into the computer video port. Make sure there is only one video port on the back of the computer, if there are more try them too. You may have to reboot after switching the cables over.

Electronics do not store well in high humidity. If this is a CRT monitor, it is probably not worth the money to mess with, since you can buy a used replacement very cheap.

Try looking at the Monitors Plug, Look directly into the Plug, you should see 15 small pins inside the plug.

Sometimes one or two of these pins get bent over and no longer makes contact. If you do see a pin than is not pointing straight out like the reset, the best thing to do is to use a small pair of needle nose pliers to gently straighten the pin. Be very careful becouse once a pin is bent it can break easily.

Dell E151FPb 15" LCD with power LED blinking.

The problem may be a loose connection. When I turn on my monitor, the green light blinks and a flickering white screen appears for a brief second every time. There must be a loose connection on the power board which may be causing this. The easiest solution is to tap at the back of the monitor. This will reconnect the loose end and the monitor will work fine until it gets disconnected again. I will open my monitor soon to find the real problem. But it will take some time to find it.

This is a very difficult question to answer without knowing more info, but here goes:

Check the power cable, there should be only place to plug it into. This may be one of several styles depending on your model, usually a 3 prong female (just like your PC's power cable) connector, or a single pin female connector (looks male but has a hole in the center) will connect to the back of the monitor.

If you get power, but no image: VGA connections will use a large blue connector with 15 round pins, 3 rows of 5. DVI will be a large white connector with slotted pins, with varying amounts of pins depending on the type of cable (analog, digital, or both). HDMI will be a small connector that resembles a large USB connector. You may also be using a composite or component cable, which will be color coded to the ports on the monitor.

All styles of connectors will physically only connect to the corresponding port. Check all connections and make sure they are all secure and connected to the correct locations on the monitor. Doing this should resolve your issue.

Monitor no signal

Check to see if there is more than one 15-pin monitor connection on the back of your computer. If there is, try plugging the video cable into the other one.

Is this a new monitor? Was it working before this? Does your computer sound like it is starting up normally?
