SOURCE: replacing spare tire winch 2004 chev trailblazer

I have a '02 TrailBlazer and I had the same problem. When I got a flat and went to change the tire on the side of the road I was not able to get the tire off the winch. Luckly, I have AAA and the driver knew the trick to getting the tire free. The process involved lowering the tire as far as it would go and then kicking it. Wind back up and repeat until the winch free's itself.

When I took the car into the shop to get the tire fixed and the have the spare put back on the car, they were not able to get the winch free enough to put the tire back on. They said that is is a common problem with this mechanism and suggested replacing the winch system (estmated parts and labor $215). From what I can tell the winch accumulates rust up in the cable and locks up.

SOURCE: The cable for the spare tire on my 2006 1500 works

  1. Rotate the hoist shaft counterclockwise until approximately 15 cm (6 in) of cable (1) is exposed.
  2. While holding the latch pin (3), fully depress the latch button (2) and release the secondary latch from the hoist assembly. Some side-to-side and/or up-and-down movement may be necessary to disengage the latch mechanism.
  3. Continue rotating the hoist shaft counterclockwise in order to lower the hoist the rest of the way.
  4. If this does not release the secondary latch, the spare tire hoist will need to be replaced. See the following procedure.
Important: If the spare tire hoist has been fully raised without a spare tire in place, the secondary latch mechanism may have become engaged. If this has occurred the hoist will not lower and the following steps will need to be followed:

SOURCE: My honda odyssey touring does

2005 Honda Odyssey TOURING models originally came with Michelin PAX run-flats and eliminated the traditional dough-nut spare. If your van no longer has run-flats (look at the tire size) then your van has already been De-PAX'd...count your lucky stars because PAX tires run about 300 a tire plus!!! If you have been De-PAX'd then you will need a donut spare (T135/80D17) this goes into the spare tire space located behind the 3rd row of seats. this Site has everything you will need for the spare http://www.hondapartworld.com/1534_SPARE-SHJ

How can I replace a broken taillight cover on a 2012 chrysler 300? the dealer wants $450

Salvage yards will have them for less than 50 bucks up to somewhat more than that, depending on what model you need. The srt or rt or gt or whatever will cost more than the base model. car-part dot com will find you one for your exact needs. carparts dot com list s new ones for 100 dollars.

I have a honda civic 92 and recently been in an accident. The front wheel barring balls or bar as i was told is bent from the smash making it undrivable. Mu question is how much would it cost to replace...

I think its not the BEARiNG, its the AXLE that is bent!

The whole assembly will cost you more! At the age of ur beautifull car, try to buy the parts in the wrecking company or refurbish ones, cost less than 50% than new ones!

Weak battery

The way to solve a problem with Honda auto is to never buy another one. I have a 04 CR-V and 08 accord. I have had rear brakes wear out with less than 30000 miles on accord and the battery won't hold up as it keeps going dead, The CR-V A/C went out and the dealer told me it would cost $3,000 plus to fix. Honda dealerships have convinced me that I should never again buy a Honda as they will not stand behind their warranty
. I would never recommend a Honda to anyone unless they are my enemy.
