White bar comes across screen thats it Triton 400
The white or gray bar on top of your 400 is a developer bar. This caused by a corrupt fine in the internal memory of the GPS. You can repair this problem by going to the www.exploristforum.com website and looking under the Repairs and Services section. The repair software is there with instructions on how FIX your GPS.

Hey,
Had the same exact problem, found a website with instructions on how to fix it. Turns out there was a corrupt file in the update, so you have to download the update directly from magellan and copy/paste into folders yourself. Anyway, here's the link--it worked perfectly for me!

OK .. you could have many possible causes. The most likely is that the magellan drivers are not installed on your computer. If you installed Vantage Point you will find them under the c:\magellan drivers folder.
Now without Vantage Point being on just connect the GPS to the computer and turn it on. Then open up the device manager on your computer and you will see a PORT COM(number). Click on the properties and see if the device driver is enabled and working.
If it is not.. then uninstall the present driver and reinstall from your computer by pointing to the c:\magellan drivers folder.

If you also have the problem that you cannot connect it to VantagePoint then your GPS has lost it identity. These are hidden files and only fixed in a repair store .. try the jungleghost.com repair center.

It is too complicated to fix yourself. If the unit is out of warranty, the JungleGhost at jungleghost.com has a repair service. Go to http://www.jungleghost.com/repair_service.shtml

Actually some bad news for you all. When you used the VP somehow you corrupted the internal software in the GPS. If the damage is done then you need to reflash the internal memory of the GPS. If the unit is in warranty .. then call Magellan.
