Take the spark plug out and crank the engine over for 30 seconds to blow out any gas that may be in there. get another or a new spark plug and put it in and try to start it. maybe check compression to see if the valves are working properly. if you have spark and fuel and compression it should.

The engine will crank but will not start why?

Do you have any codes or an engine light on, in your dash board ? Have you checked for spark at your plugs ? There are many things that could cause a vehicle to not start. Bad camshaft/crankshaft sensors. Poor ground wiring. Defective spark plugs or wires/coils.

2002 cavalier 2.4 will not start fuel pump runs has spark

FUEL PUMP ONLY HUM'S FOR 2 SECONDS WHEN YOU TURN KEY TO ON, NOT START, POSITION. YOU CANNOT HEAR PUMP RUN WHEN CAR IS RUNNING ! THIS 2 SEC., IS THE PUMP PRIMING ITSELF TO START ENGINE. YOU MIGHT BE HEARING EITHER THE POWER STEERING OR WHATEVER, NOT THE FUEL PUMP!!!!!! GIVEN THE YEAR OF THIS CAR, YOUR FUEL PUMP COULD BE BAD, CHECK FUSES, RELAY, GROUND WIRES, TO PUMP, ALSO CHANGE YOUR FUEL FILTER !!!!! AIR FILTER ALSO !!!!!!! SPARK PLUG WIRES SHOULD ALSO BE REPLACED !!!!

The engine turns over but the motor will not start. The van was running fine when it was cut off. It doesn't seem to be getting gas.

It's very likely your fuel pump has failed. Have somebody thump on the fuel tank while you're cranking the engine and see if it starts. If it does, replace the fuel pump. Otherwise get your fuel pressure checked, and check for spark. If no spark, check to make sure the distributor is turning(if applicable) If a 3.3 motor with no spark, suspect the crank sensor or cam sensor. Crank sensor is much easier to replace if experimenting.

K750 got it started briefly after 30 pulls and then it shut off seems its not getting any fuel. I changed fuel line and filter spark plug. It gets good spark. Help

check your compression, then make sure the fuel vac pulse line if it has one is not cracked, this creats vacumn when engine is rolled over which in turn pulses your fuel pump to pump fuel through carb. look in the spark plug hole with flashlite and look for scores in cylinder and piston, maybe remove muffler and look at cylinder with flashlite and make sure your rings aren't cooked to piston causing low compression. Sorry I got carry'd away, make sure your fuel filter is clean, fresh fuel and clean your carb and check diaphrams for being stiff if so replace them. Good Luck

I have a 1992 Chevy 1/2 ton 5.7 Litre 1500 series truck. The truck while idling suddenly stalled. I verified the fuel pump by taking the pump side off to the filter and verified fuel to the filter by...

Doesn't sound like you've considered spark. Sounds like you're losing spark somehow. You seem to know your way around a truck, so I don't have to explain every little thing. Just check all the ignition stuff, go through the distributor and coil and plugs and wires. If it's gettin fuel, its either a spark issue or air/vaccum issue. Hope this helps.

2002 GMC Sonoma 2.2l 4cyl. I have been having intermittent fuel pump problems. I replaced the fuel pump and now the truck will not start. There is spark and there is flow at the filter, but it is very...

With the ignition key turned on without trying to start the engine you should hear the fuel pump run for a few seconds. That is how its primed to start. Upon starting the oil pressure reaches normal operations & the prime switch will cut off by the signal from the computer. Thus the engine still needs fuel to run so the computer switches on the fuel pump relay to provide the fuel to the engine. The prime switch is intergrated with the oil pressure switch. If you do not hear the fuel pump upon having the key on replace the oil pressure sensor

My truck is having a hard time starting but eventually it would start. I changed all spark plugs an what is the next step. If my fuel pump works ill change the fuel filter again. If the fuel filter didn't...

make sure the plug gaps are 25th as a wide plug gap will cause bad starting ,cannot see a fuel filter causing bad starting though but as a thought first check the vacumn pipe to the fuel opening valve on the fuel rail is a valve with a vacumn pipe running to it ,the vacumn of the engine opens this valve to allow the fuel for the injectors and if it has a vacumn loss then it will not start ,as for the pump then just check for a 12v feed to it engine is cranked ,lots of people change the fuel pump as they think their is no feed but it will only show a feed when engine is cranked then when it runs it will also show 12v ,right must go to make the tea or iam in the doghouse

Turn key to start-engine turns and i have spark wont start

I would check fuel pressure so you can rule out pump. I had a bad pump right out of the box before. Also you may want to change fuel filter so you can rule out plugged filter. You have spark, sure seems like still no fuel.
