Question about HP PSC 950 All-In-One InkJet Printer
Have you already solved your problem? There are at least three posts about the same problem and about the PSC 950.
If you solved your problem, please comment, saying how you did it, so you can help others.
If you didn´t solve it, check this HP FAQ:
Solving Print Cartridge Alignment Problems
Note that it says (in the end) that you can bypass the alignment page and use the information from the last successful alignment in your printer, by pressing and hold the Enter button, and then press Setup .
I offered this same suggestion to another poster, who replied it didnn't solve his/her problem. It might work for you though. Please try and give some feedback (even if it is not positive).

Reinsert the color cartridge. Give print command for page. Open Preferences in print window. Open the Color tab. Click on Print in Color. (It may have been set for black only.) Try printing.

SOURCE: align cartridges error
This means one of the cartridges is defective, they cant align if they cant print. What i did to fix this problem is insert 2 working cartridges and get it to align properly, even if they are low on ink, then lift the cover and the cartridges will move to the center. When this happens pull the power cable out, then insert the full non functioning cartridge. Plug the power cable back in. I tried this with a color cartridge, the color cartridge was non functioning but i was able to print in black.
Basically you align the cartridges and then swap them so the printer thinks they are still aligned.
The color still doesnt work and it is probably a defective color cartridge.

Try these steps if this did not resolve try to clear the memory of the printer
and try to print ..
# Hold the cartridge upside down, with the bar-code label facing you and take a damp paper towel.
# Use the towel to wipe the printhead of the cartridge on the bottom (where the ink comes out). Wipe the printhead horizontally in one direction only (left to right).
# Continue doing this until it looks clean.
# Then dab the cartridge on the towel to make sure the ink is flowing.
# Next, look inside the printer and locate the carrier that holds ink cartridges. Caution: Make sure the cartridges are not installed at this point.
1. Look for a shiny piece of metal underneath the contacts at the back of the carrier.
2. Take a damp cotton swab (use water only!) and wipe along the bottom of the shiny metal piece. Note: You may need more than one swab.
# Reinstall the cartridges, making sure you snap them correctly into the printer.
