My Hoover 2X PetPlus Pet Stain & Odor Remover (64 oz) turned my off white carpet rusty orange! The liquid itself was orange brown. Is this the normal color?

I don't believe this is normal. I would contact the company. I would use 1 part white vinegar to 2 parts water and put it in a spray bottle. Use that to clean pet stains.

get the big stuff with paper towels in a used grocery bag. then we use white terry cloth rags with a weak solution of dish detergent and warm water. when the terry cloth isnt stained you got the stain up.

Don't have a solution to the whole odor problem. But my machine smells musty or moldy so I have taken the dirty solution tank and turned it upside down and shook it filled with detergent. You can see the white pipe, or that's what I call it open so additional water drains out. But a bigger problem with my machine occured about 3 weeks ago. I was using my machine and when I picked it up off the carpet there was a black liquid that had come from the bottom of the machine. Which is not good given I have white carpet. I contacted the Bissell Company and they had me send the machine to them and they provided a prepaid shipping label. Also the company send me a bottle of pet and stain remover to get the stain out. As of yet the stain has not been totally removed. A bit of advice so this doesn't happen to you is to put a towel under the machine when using. I say this because I'm not sure if it is connected to the bad smell and thinking it might be a black moldy liquid. Hope this helps.
Hello, I too have a problem with a bad smell coming from my henry hound hoover, but thats probely because i haven't used a hoover bag. I took the cloth filter out,banged all the dust off, then sprayed it with 'RugDoctor' pet stain remover for carpets and upholstery. It still smells a bit, but not half as bad as befor. I have now ordered a reusable,zipable,washable cloth hoover bag especially made for Henry's. It cost £8.80 from ebay with free postage. Hope this helps Nikki.
