Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

I have a Danby DPAC10030 air conditioner. It was working fine until yesterday, when we moved it to another room. Now it blows cold air for 5 minutes and then the air turns hot. The a/c motor continues to run even though the air is no longer blowing cold air. The current ambient temperature is 25 degrees C and I have the a/c set to cool to 17 degrees C. The timer has been turned off (0:00 on and 0:00 off). I noticed that the hoses (exhaust) feel quite hot. Not sure if that it normal within such a short period of time?

I have a danby(simplicity) portable airconditioner, was working fine till i heard ice droping into the fan(crunching noise).after that,it does not blow cold air anymore.any ideas what the problem could

Is the fan no longer running, or is it now blowing room temperature air? If it iced up enough to drop ice into the fan it may have simply gone into defrost mode. Unplug it and make sure it has completely defrosted - if it ices up quickly when powered up again, you likely have a problem with the condenser lines.

Comperssors have a thermal overload. If there is a starting problem or low on freon the conpressor will shut down until cooled off. Try restarting and listen to compressor.

Getting the room down to temp....

Danby Consumer help line: 800-263-2629 This is the best I can do for this product line having no information. From my knowledge and experience working with refrigeration and air conditioning there are a few things you should check. Check the voltage being supplied to the unit to insure it is with-in 10% of the name plate specifications. Check the air intake and exhaust hoses for good air flow and that the exhaust is not being recirculated into the intake. I suspect that your problem may be due to the compressor possibly overheating and tripping the internal overload protector. These take time to reset.
