Question about Xerox Phaser 6250 Laser Printer

Xerox Phaser 6250

Hi
My Xerox Phaser 6250 is making tiny magenta/red coloured dots both randomly and in regular lines down the page. I don't want to buy new fuser/transfer roller/imaging unit unless I know they are going to fix the problem or if I can solve it by cleaning. Any suggestions to try before I spent too much
Cheers & thanks

I recently purchased a Xerox Phaser 6250DP, and upon delivery it appears the toner has spilled everywhere during shipping. The toner cartridges had been removed and wrapped in cellophane. After cleaning the printer up on the outside, I get varying magenta vertical lines on all output. These lines vary on where they are and how many of them are on each page. Printer only shows 11,000 pages printed, so it shouldn't need a new imaging unit yet, right?

    Solution: Resolving Repeating Magenta Spots

Follow the steps outlined below to resolve repeating dots if the repeating defects page show that the imaging unit is the cause of the problem. You will need Imaging Unit Cleaning tool part number 650-4272-00 prior to performing these instructions.

    Imaging Unit Cleaning Tool

The steps needed to clean the imaging unit using the Imaging Unit Cleaning Tool are:

    1. Remove all interface cables form the printer to prevent print jobs from being sent during the cleaning process.

    2. Print a “Startup” page from the Front Panel.

    3. Locate the position of the repeating spot on the startup page.

    4. Using the slider bar on the cleaning tool align the felt cleaning pad with the color spots on the page.

    5. Remove the Imaging unit from the printer.

    6. Match up the color of the spot with the corresponding slot in the Imaging Unit.

Caution: The tool will not work in the top slot. This is not a problem however because the top slot is for the yellow developer and yellow spots are practically invisible to the naked eye.

    7. Install the cleaning tool in the appropriate slot.

Caution: Do not install the cleaning unit in the yellow drum slot as it could possibly damage the imaging unit.

    8. Install the Imaging Unit into the printer and close all doors.

    9. The cleaning process takes approximately 15 to 20 seconds. “Ready to Print” will be displayed on the Front Panel when the cleaning is completed.

    10. Take the Imaging Unit out of the printer.

    11. Remove the Imaging Unit Cleaning Tool.

    12. Install the Imaging Unit back into the printer, close the door and continue to print.

Note: Keep the Imaging Unit Cleaning tool for future use; it can be reused many times.

    13. If after going through the cleaning steps twice, and the dots are still present, then replace the Imaging Unit.

How Brave is Jan?

Doubt it be the fuser(100 000life), "just magenta dots".... fuser would be "all smudged" or "black marks" , "the print rubs off" , "paper is creasing or jamming"

Can prove it by stopping a print (open door) when paper is1/2 way threw machine, you need to stop it before it goes threw the hot bit, so you can tell if the hot bit (fuser) puts the marks on the paper.

Transfer roller one would expect to effect whole print Smudged/Faint,uneven density

It will be the imaging unit ( 30 000 pagelife Ouch$ ) or possible leaking toner (if aftermarket)

Remove imaging unit and inspect film you should find image of lines, dots are usually chips or sticky stuff on drum surface, carefull no oily human fingers on surface please.

When stopping machine mid print and perfecting your timing, pull out the imaging unit and look at replica of your print notice if marked and where.

Hope this helps

Xerox Phaser 6250 won't print colour in Windows 7 - despite having latest drivers from xerox, the test page gives Color support: No

Hello!

I had same problem and it was driving me crazy. Try this one:

Control panel -> Devices and printers -> xerox printer with mouse right click

Printer properties -> Options

From list you'll select configuration and it gives you drop down menu and from menu you need to select your printer.

I didn't try this one yet because more solid ink is still on the way but this gave me all printing options back. Before basic printing mode was selected.

Funny stuff, uh?

Big problems here, sorry, suspect the magenta might be at the root of your problem.
as your problem was listed 2009 I suspect you might have sorted your problem by now.
Good luck.

I have phaser 8400 with 40k page count. I am getting a mark on page about 6 inches from top of page and 1/2 inch from left margin. Sometimes it is a faint blur 1/4 inch wide and 1 inch long. Other times...

Run Remove Ink Smears from the Troubleshooting menu. Try running the jetfix snippet found on Xerox website under downloads. It sounds like you may have a defective printhead telling it to spit out some magenta ink at the wrong time.

Xerox Phaser 6250 yellow line at far left of page

Sounds like it is time to replace the imaging drum. This is a consumable and usually done every 15-20k pages. Cost is about $250-300 and very easily replaced, fast as changing a toner.

I am assuming that you tried changing the yellow toner already? If not, do that first...

Xerox Phaser 6250 started printing bad

That really sounds like the imaging unit cleaner has an issue.
If you have one try the imaging unit, I really suspect that is your problem.
Black is Faded or Missing Step 1 Clean the Laser Windows and Remove Excess Toner From the Imaging Unit Step 2 Check or Replace the Imaging Unit Gear Retaining Pin Step 3 Replace the Imaging Unit (installation instructions) ic-film.gif
See if this link works. Xerox is infameous for these not working.

Hi, we have a big problem

I would guess Orange = light red (magenta) indicating a problem with a clogged ink nozzels on the print head.
So might need an engineer if the cleaning option (on the printer menu) can't fix it.
Cheers
