My dvd/cd will not record. It shows a code 10. I've tried uninstalling, restarting then it automatically finds and installs a driver but it still won't work!

This has been a common windows issue. I'm sure that this will solve your problem. You can go to this link, http://tinyurl.com/toshibadvd, download the registry file and run it. After that, just restart your computer and it should be good to go.

If you're not sure and is worried about security since this is messing with the registry, you can just click on this microsoft link where it explains and gives you detailed instructions on how to manually edit the registry and fix the problem. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929461.

This is typically the same thing, the first one is just a shortcut on how to do it. Just a reminder, EDIT THE REGISTRY AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

Try uninstalling the device from device manager, the, also from device manager, do a scan for hardware changes. The computer should find the device, maybe it will install properly.

I have a Toshiba Satellite L750D and my TSST corp CDDVDW TS-L633F ATA device, {CD/DVD writer} will not read nor recognize and CDs...as soon as I press D: , the door opens and I get prompted to load th

Go to "Control Panel, then " then "System and Security" and then "Device Manager". Check under "DVD/CD ROM Drives" to see if you Optical Drive is indeed listed. If it is not there, it needs to be reinstalled. Go to http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/computers/satellite/l750/psk2ya-04k010/download?os=25 and download the "Chipset" driver for the appropriate Operating System and install it and then reboot your system and see if the drive has been found.

If the Optical Drive is present, you can delete it and then download and install the Chipset driver to replace it with a correct driver.

I have seen this happen multiple times with Toshiba laptops. Good luck.

Blu-ray won't play

If your Toshiba Satellite Pro isn't reading your DVD-ROM, it means that the DVD-ROM of your computer has been disabled. If your DVD-ROM drive has accidentally been disabled, enabling the DVD-ROM drive is quite a simple task to complete, even for individuals who have little to no experience working with computers.

Click on the "Start" menu and then "Control Panel." Click on "System and Maintenance" in the control panel. Click on "System." Click on the "Hardware" tab and then click "Device Manager." Click on the CD/DVD-ROM drive option and click on it so that it is highlighted. Right-click on the CD/DVD-ROM drive option, and then click "Properties." Click "Enable" in the properties menu and then click "OK." Restart your computer by clicking "Start" and then "Restart." Once your computer has booted, your Toshiba Satellite Pro DVD-ROM drive will be enabled. if still no joy

Click start control panel administration tools computer management device manager scroll down cd-dvd rom drives you might see a yellow question /exclamation mark ? ! or a red X right click to update driver You might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd/dvd computer then plug them back in restart your this should activate the found new hardware wizard. If this does not fix the problem it might be a registry problem "you only need to do the following" if you cant see your disk drive in windows explorer Close all open programs Click on Start, Run, and type regedit and press Enter Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SYSTEM CurrentControlSet Control Class {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column. Upper Filters Lower Filters Upper Filters.bak Lower Filters.bak If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete

After deleting the keys, close the registry editor
Reboot your computer
Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone. if this fails to fix the problem

It could be a problem with the lens you could use a liquid type lens cleaner place 2-3 drops on top of a cd/dvd then run it Hope this helps.

DVD RAM not reading the DVD on a Toshiba Satellite A105 laptop

did you try to insert other DVDs? if it works then the DVD that you are trying to play is faulty. But if all CDs cannot be read i suspected it's a dvd-rom drive faulty. you need to replace it.

DVD DRIVE OF MY HP LAPTOP

Hi there:
If you know how to boot the computer into bios look for the boot section and check to see if the cd rom is there if not change the settings to show a cd rom and than save and reboot but i think you may have damaged the cd rom when you forced it open these are pretty delicate devices , force should never be used .
best regards mike

CD ROM CR-589

Hi, A couple of possibilities: With a known good DVD with files inserted into your Compaq CR-589, double click in your My Computer, double click in your CD/DVD. 1. If it opens and displays the content, then there is nothing wrong with your DVD but the auto start feature of your OS was disabled, enable auto start; 2. If in My Computer or in Device Manager, the DVD doesn't show up, then it can be hardware problem, IDE/power cable problem, bios did not recognize DVD device, replace if and as needed; 3. If the DVD is in My Computer but will not display the files or contents, possibly defective DVD, replace. Hope this worksa out for you. Pls post again how things turn up. Good luck and kind regards.
