Why my a/c unit wont blow hot air

Is it simply an AC or is it HVAC? If just AC it'll only cool but if HVAC and no hot is escaping through the vents towards your face then i'd call an engineer round to have a poke with a screwdriver...

What causes the ac to blow cold in the rear but warm air in the front?

These vehicles came with 2 types of ac controls.
The vacuum control system uses vacuum to actuate the vents and ducting from hot to cold. A lot of times the HVAC vacuum line in the engine bay (black hard plastic) is either broken or disconnected from its vacuum source.
The electronic vent control: does everything at the control knob via vent actuators and the control panel itself. With this one it could be any of the components. You would have to locate them and verify operation by moving temp/vent selector.

AC blows hot air out the front vents no matter the setting. It is winter so it is not too bad. The back vents blow cool air but not cold.

Getting your system recharged at a dealership would be recommended but only hot air coming through the front could be an hvac problem, make sure that all your vacuum lines that run to your system are not crushed or unplugged, they will be located in the engine bay of your vehicle.

The a/c dont working only heater

If the compressor is running and one of the ac lines is cold, you probably have a blend door stuck or faulty in the HVAC box under the dash. The blend doors direct air thru the heater core and evaporator core as well as thru the vents.

Ac just been charged and it still blowshot air

{: ) If the a/c compressor is working and the low side pipes are cool to touch, well and good, since you have a ready source for cool air. With a normally functioning HVAC controls, the front vents should blow cold when adjusted to cold settings, on recirculate, and on face mode. Otherwise you have an air distribution malfunction. Confirm first if the low side pipes are actually cooling.
If no cool air comes out, ( or maybe it's coming out from another vent) then you have a problem with one of your HVAC actuators. You can confirm this by adjusting the knobs or buttons to every position and check if the air distribution is shifting as you intended it to be. A scan tool can pinpoint which of these actuators are stuck or not responding. It could even be the HVAC controller module itself.

05 ford ranger 3.0......if I put my thermostat on cold...the vent blows hot air..on max ac..its cold air..makes no sense right....help

Cold air like, really cold or just cool. Sounds like your hot/cold blend door motor has perhaps failed with the blend door in the semi hot position. Blend door motor failure is very common on the Ford truck HVAC systems. Is is located behind the glovebox on top of the HVAC housing assembly.
