A PUK code (Pin Unlock Key) is required when you enter an incorrect PIN (Personal Identification Number) 3 times. After entering the wrong PIN 3 times, the card will be locked and you will need to get a PUK code from your service provider to unlock it.
Once your PUK has been send to you, you should enter it into your phone to set a new PIN code, that will be four zeros "0000"
Note: If the wrong PUK code is entered ten times, the SIM card becomes invalid and you will need to get a new SIM Card. The phone will display "PUK blocked call operator". that will cost you money.
So please be carefull before entering PIN and check twice.
From attached link: WHAT MUST I DO IF I FORGOT MY PIN ?
You must go to the nearest SASSA office for your PIN to be reset. If the card issued to you malfunctions, the same process is followed but SASSA will not charge you for the replacement of the card - the damaged card must be returned to CPS who will hand over all such cards to SASSA.
When a PIN code is entered wrongly three times, the phone line will be blocked. Irrespective of the owner, it is assumed that you are not the owner of the phone line when you enter your pin wrongly.
The blocked line at this point can still be unblocked and this is where the PUK code comes in. Once you enter the PUK code, your PIN code will be reset. You can then create a ne PIN code.
To get your PUK code, if your phone is using a SIM Card, Check the SIM card Pack and you will see your PUK code there. But if you don't have a SIM card pack, you can get the PUK code from your service provider.
Call the customer care line of your service provider using another phone, request for your PUK code and it will be given to you. Note that your service provider will ask you some few questions about your line in order to be sure you are the real owner.
Note that your service provider alone is the only one that can give you your PUK code because it's only your service provider that has it.
PUK is the property of your SIM card. If you enter wrong SIM PIN no. 3
times then you'll be asked to enter PUK code and if you enter wrong PUK
code 10 times then your SIM could be deactivated. Usually
PUK is written in the intial SIM card package by your carrier.
You will need to speak to someone from your carrier to get/reset your PUK code.
you have entered the pin code wrong 3 times now you are required to enter a puk code to reset the pin code.
The puk code is sim card spesific it comes with the sim card when you get it or you can get it by calling your phone service provider of the sim card to get the puk code.
if you have entered the puk code wrong too many times you will make the sim card useless and you will have to contact your phone service provider for a new sim card, it will probably cost.
That means someone has entered a wrong PIN code more than 3 times, you need to have your service provider unlock your SIM card for you Unfortunatly if the code is entered more than 10 times, that SIM card is out of commission, might cost you the $25 dollars for a new card. Someone might have entered it without you knowledge, keep that in mind... hope that helps, let me know Thanks
