If the fan motor is on but the compressor is not : if the compressor has correct voltage up to the terminals and is not operating, the compressor is bad, if ther is not power to the terminals, the start components may be the culprit, if there is no power to the start componenets then the controller is the issue.

I meant the AC does not cool

Make sure the mode is set to freeze and temperature is set to below the room temperature.

If it is a split system, check the outdoor unit whether it is running. If it is running, see if you can reach and feel the temperature of the pipes connecting between the indoor and the outdoor unit. It should be cool.

If it is not cool, you may need to get somebody to check the refrigerant.

I have a 1.5 hp kelvinator wall mounted air cond.It has three button (cool, fan, and dry)If I want to get the room really cold what is the best button to push

Hi,
The best button to push for that is the cool button, then turn the thermostat all the way to cold.
The fan button will only move air around and will do no cooling.
The dry button is for dehumidification, in this mode the unit will run a low speed fan over the cooling coil to take the water out of the air.

So for cooling your best option is to push the cool button and crank down the thermostat...

2 yr old kenmore refrigerator with bottom freezer. Refrigerator not cooling. Freezer is

This unit has an electronic speed control on the condensor fan which controls the cooling in the refrigerator unit. The electronic control failed which allowed all items to work as intended just without a high enough fan speed to cool the refer unit.

Air conditioner

You need to check the evaporator to see if it needs cleaning. You can check this by taking a dollar bill and see if it will hold it in place while running. Inadequate airflow will cause poor performance. Unfortunately ,this is something that would require removal from the window. You should use a coil cleaner made for evaporators from an a/c supply house. Another cause could be the condensor fan motor not running if it has a seperate fan.Hope this helps

Re: air cond. should exhaust lever be open or closed to cool off?

Im not sure what type of unit you are speaking about but in general a window airconditioner unit will have an exhaust button. This button generally opens a small door that allows a small ammount of fresh air to mix with the conditioned air from the room. When it is closed all of the air is recycled from the room. To cool a room fastest, close the outside air inlet.

Rudd heatpump doesn't cool

Hi, Is the condenser fan running? If not, Check the circuit breaker inside the house and the quick disconnect at the condensing unit. Making sure the power is off, check for any bugs in the contactor. If it is running, check to see if there are any resets on a high pressure switch or control board in the condenser. Check the compressor capacitors and see if they are leaking oil or swelled up. are there any burned wires? Is the compressor hot? If the fan is running and the compressor is not hot it is probably off on Low Pressure and needs charged by a licensed Air Cond Tech. Hope I have helped. Let me know. kstfas
