Question about Funai F42PDME 42 in. Plasma Television
The Story: Last night at 12:00am I went to sleep with people at my home still awake, the TV s fully operational, audio, video, input, volume everything works on the TV. So when I wake up the next morning at around 11pm the TV's video is not working. I check the wiring from the cable and XBOX 360 and made sure it was all in, it was. We have had the TV about 4 years with no problems ever. My theory is that the XBOX, which was on when I woke up, had burnt an image into the screen. My brother says the filament burnt out, I doubt it. So I was just wondering if this can be fixed or if we are screwed and need to get a new TV?
Unfortunately, what you're describing is a repair issue. You won't be able to address the problem with troubleshooting. There is a part inside the TV that needs to be replaced. If you're under warranty, this will cost you nothing. If you're not under warranty the cost will likely be a minimum of $200 parts and labor. However, be warned that the cost could be considerably higher.
