Question about Dewalt Saws

1 Answer

Dewalt recip saw 307m no longer holds saw blade. I suspect torsion spring, and can replace myself, but not sure if it attaches at both ends, or just at end near blade release lever. If also at other end, what does it attach to?

I would go to Dewaltservicenet.com and type in your model number on the page and it should bring up a schematic that you can download and see where the part goes. Let me know if you have trouble finding it, if so I need the exact model number.

Blade catch wears out too fast
I loved this tool when it was working but after not that much use the teeth that hold the blade under pressure no longer hold hard enough to prevent the blade from coming out. The mechanism that holds the blade has no catch hole, it uses a few serated teeth to pressure hold the blade in place. Unfortunately, once the pressure starts to lessen you can't tighten it down...

How do I replace the blade guard on a Dewalt DC390K saw

Remove the clip behind the back blade flange holding it on to the housing and lift it up of the return spring, replace the opposite way remembering to relocate the return spring. Make sure you get the model number correct as the 390 and 390k are different.

The piece that holds the blade in is held in place by a spring that sometimes breaks. eReplacementparts.com has a diagram and sells the springs for 78 cents.

Replacing blade assembly on a dewalt 18v Reciprocating Saw Sawzall

Remove the foot, remove the boot (and yellow lever), pull shaft out all the way (so you have more room to work with), remove the spring clip from the clamp block, remove the lever and ball, the clamp block will then slide off once the wire clip that wraps around it is removed.

I have a DW938 and I cannot get the blade to lock into place seems like there is no lock at all.

Hi, If you look at the end where the blade goes in, on the right hand side (as holding it for use in your hands) you should see a yellow lever. First take out the battery, each and every time you change the blade. Lift up the lever, wear some gloves to protect your hand and pull the plade straight out. Push in the new blade with the teeth pointing down, and push the yellow lever down. You can replace the battery once you have completed the above. Hope that was of help to you.

Repair spring to lower guard to spring back on dewalt 18v dc390 saw

You may be able to salvage the torsion spring that is there. Sometimes the end will break off and you can bend yourself a new end and just stick it back into the retaining hole in the housing or guard. There may be damage to the guard which will not allow you to just bend the spring to make a new joint. Either way, you need to know what you are dealing with. First remove the blade if you haven't done so already. Then remove the bumper (rubber piece) that stops the guard from returning too far. Next you will need a pick or a small flat head screwdriver. Look around the hub and you will notice a retaining ring. You will have to use the pick or screwdriver to get the ring started. Look for a little tab around the perimeter of the hub. You will have to work that tab out and make sure you keep your pick or screwdriver under it. Then work it around and off the hub. Then you can remove the guard from the hub. The spring is located under the guard and is a torsion spring. Look for damage to the guard and the housing as well as the spring. If there is any question to the integrity of the guard you should replace it. The part number for the torsion spring is 612517-00 ($1.50), the retaining ring is 150383-00 ($1.50) just in case you break it, and the guard number is 611925-00 ($6). If you have any questions please post back.

Blade comes out while sawing

I have used the same tool. Make sure that the blade release/ hold tab is engaged. Maybe the return spring is fouled or stuck. Try some lubricant.
