The printhead is clogged. Some printers have the printheads as part of the ink cartridges. Others are separate. Try taking a swab with alcohol to the head area. If this does not work, try the print head cleaning several times. You may find it less expensive to replace the printer.

Clean the print heads. Many HP systems have this as a feature to automatically perform the task.
