If your receiver was connected to any power source and that power source was not a surge protector strip there may be damage to the receiver as lighting travels. Another thing to consider is the fact that many people will put their equipment on surge protectors but the cable is still connected to the TV etc...This is just another avenue for the lightning to get into the home and blow up your system. I always disconnect any cable from my computer and TV. The power source from the wall is also unplugged when there is a storm just to be sure. Surge protectors are limited in their use as well. I don't believe they can take too many lightning hits. It is best to change them out.

Sound coming from speakers is very quite. must

check your manual for a quiet mode, or reset factory defaults. it might be stuck in "attenuator" mode, where sound is muffled, in case you're answering a phone.

Rear surround speakers quit working from my Onkyo

It looks like the audio output was changed on the player so that it doesn't output 5.1. Enter the setup menu on the player and change DTS to output DTS instead of what be labled as stereo or L/R and Dolby Digital to output Dolby Digital instead of whatever else it is set to.

No audio sound from HDMI connection from TV to Onkyo 606 amp.

you have the output of the receiver going to the input of the TV?

i believe that you should be running the TV output to the receiver input to get your sound from the TV to the receiver and thus speakers.

the easiest setup is to just run your cable box and DVD player HDMI's into your TV inputs. then run another HDMI from the TV output to the receiver input.

I have the Onkyo TX-DS656. The problem is that the power is on, but I get no sound. House was struck by lightning and had a bit of a surge. All other functions seem to work just fine. Rumor has it that the...

The unit is in protect mode because a problem was detected in the output section. In all likelyhood, the output transistors have failed or a secondary power supply hs failed. Because this was the result of a power surge, I would suggest that you take this to a sericer and request a detailed repair estimate. This could be as simple as a voltage regulator gone bad to the microprocessor being fried. This is not a problem that can be diagnosed remotely.

TX 8410 Onkyo no sound

Well, I'm sure you've either fixed the issue or gotten rid of the unit by now, but anyway... perhaps the speaker selection was accidentally switched (A or B), or my personal favorite: "Tape 2 Monitor" was turned on. Even if you select something else, you'll still see "Tape 2 Monitor" displayed on the LED display. Hit the button again and it will go away and your sound should return.

Sounds like your right front output transistors/IC may have a problem, not the jacks. Time for a trip to the shop I fear.

Onkyo receiver

It sure dosent sound good!! The clicking sound you here are the protection relays to assist in protecting your speakers from blowing out. Your output devices are shorted it sounds like. Do not ever ever attemp to jump out those relays as it will burn out your speakers and possibly burn down your house!. Theres alot of current inthese amps for high power so if your not a tech and you think its worth it take the unit in to be looked at as there are no serviceable user parts inside these units . Sorry to have to tell ya this.. Good Luck
