Question about Whirlpool LGR3624JQ Gas Dryer

1 Answer

The dryer won't heat it just spins. Could the pilot light have blown out? Is there a reset button?

The dryer number wasn't correct on the first email. It is a Whirlpool LGR4634EQ1, does that change you original answer about the Igniter, gas coils or flame sensor?

I need you to pull it away from the wall so you can open a rear door to look in to see if the igniter is glowing and trying to light the flame. Three possibilities. Igniter, gas coils or the flame sensor. I may be able to get you going. let me know, Sea Breeze

It is good that you corrected the model number now I need you to tell me what you see like in the post I asked you. That way and the correct model number I can point you in the right direction.

If you can answer the first I need you to pull it away from the wall so you can open a rear door to look in to see if the Igniter is glowing and trying to light the flame. Three possibilities. Igniter, gas coils or the flame sensor. I may be able to get you going. Here is my email. I got no response from Fixya you made a comment. They know about the problem. If Igniter glows we know that is good. Then you may see a flame for about 30 seconds and go out. Then the coils are defective or the flame sensor is not sensing the heat from the flame. appliancepartsse@yahoo.com

    Thanks, Sea Breeze

Were you able to see anything from the back. The problem most likely is one of those things I mentioned. Sea Breeze

Hello all i have a beko DRVS 62W tumble dryer...it has recently stopped producing heat but still spins..how do i fix this please?

You are asking a subject which can be dangerous, since there is a gas chamber and gas involved. First check that no one has turned off the gas ballcock valve which allows gas to flow to the dryer. And that your main Home Heater or stove is working. Once you have established that, depending on model there should be an automatic ignition which lights the pilot. I'm not familiar with your model, but most dryers have a thermocouple which keeps the pilot lit. The auto reset should be near the pilot device. If you could look into Dryer by removing the access door, or sight glass (if any) you should be a pilot light or an activation of the light once the dryer request heat. As said I don't know your model, but look for a thermocouple, if you don't know what a thermocouple is, go to a Home Hardware or Appliance Repair Store and request a thermocouple. You are under no obligation to buy simple by becoming familiar. The problem with giving advice with gas appliances is that other items can cause the safety to be tripped. A crack in combustion chamber, a loose screw which changed the gas to air ration, the venting of NOX requirements. It will take some thought and knowledge, and physically seeing the devices, it could be just a wire which fell off the control valve. Ideally when it comes to gas you not only need the right tools, such as water & soap (which blows air bubbles the kids use) to check for leaks, but small wrenches, and perhaps a cleaning of the orifices. A stripped telephone wire works the best. Trace the wires from the area next to the pilot to the other end, the reset button should not be far away.

My Maytag double stack gas dryer does not work, the screen is blank(not lighted)

Most clothes dryers have a thermal limiter or fuse, which is a heat-sensitive safety mechanism that shuts off heat to the drum or the power supply to the dryer if it overheats. Unfortunately, you can't replace a thermal limiter once it activates. The only choice you have is to replace it; your dryer won't operate properly until you do.
Although you can't reset a thermal limiter that has been blown, you can reset the dryer's two circuit breakers and restore heat to the drum and power to the dryer. However, after the breakers are reset, you'll still only have partial function of your dryer. For example, it might spin but not heat or it might initially turn on just to shut down after a few minutes. You must replace the defective thermal limiter to reinstate your dryer's full function.

Kenmore dryer not heating

hi,
1) When this happens, something has interrupted the heat source. Run the dryer for a couple of minutes to see if it gets hot. Be sure you don't have the dial or controls on a non-heat setting, such as "Fluff" or "Wrinkle Control."

2) On an electric dryer, this may mean that the circuit breaker or fuse that controls the power has blown; reset or replace this. Be aware that a dryer may have two breakers or fuses. The motor will run when one works, but the heating element requires both.

3) On a gas dryer, recheck the control's setting to be sure it's not on a heat-free setting. Check the gas valve behind the dryer to be sure the gas supply is turned on. Also make sure the house's main gas valve is turned on.

4) Most modern dryers have electronic ignition instead of a pilot light. If yours has electronic ignition and isn't heating, call a qualified repairperson.

On an older dryer, make sure the pilot light is burning. If it isn't, relight it. You can find directions in your owner's manual, and pilot light instructions are often mounted next to the pilot light on the burner, too.

Thanks for using FixYa
