My red ink tank was not down in completely and was like this for maybe two weeks without me catching it and now I can't get the red ink to work. What do I need to clean since I figure something has dried up stopping it from working?

It's not good news, the inks have a chemical in them to help them dry quickly so your ink doesn't smear when your prints come out, once it dries like that you can only replace the printhead. QY6-0055-000, around $85.00

All the ink tanks are full but ther magenta inbk tank will not print

Hello. Often, the ink tank will get a clog right where the ink should exit. The only fix is to replace that tank. This is especially common when a inkjet printer sits for over 2 weeks without being used. J.

Tank absorber full and lights blinking

The POWER Lamp Flashes Orange Eight flashes: Waste ink tank almost full
The printer has a built-in waste ink tank for the ink used during print head cleaning. Eight flashes indicates that the waste ink tank is nearly full. Press the RESUME/CANCEL button to cancel the error so you can continue printing. Before the waste ink tank becomes completely full, contact a Canon service representative.

Note
Canon recommends that you call for service as soon as this error occurs. Once the waste ink tank becomes completely full, printing will no longer be possible.

Resetting the cartridge icons on MP 480 printer after refilling cartrdges

I found that if you just hold down the 'stop' button with the little red icon on it for a few seconds, it resets the ink. But the cartridge has to have the error message that says it is completely out of ink, not just low on ink. Hold it down for a few seconds until it starts processing. It will check the cartridge, and then it worked for me!

Error code 510

Lift the scanning unit (printer cover) completely. (The print head will move to the replacement position.)
Open the inner cover.
CAUTION:
a. Do not try to manually move or stop the Print Head Holder.
b. Do not touch any metal parts.

Press down on the ink tank until a click is heard, thereby making sure the ink tank is seated properly.
Note:
Make sure that the ink tank is inserted in the slot that corresponds to the ink tank's color.

Ensure that all the ink tanks are installed properly and the ink tank lamps light red
Note:
Ink Tank Lamp
You can check the status of each ink tank according to the way its lamp flashes.

- On: The printer is ready to print.
- Slow flashing (at about three second interval): Ink is low. Prepare a new ink tank.
- Fast flashing (at about one second interval): Ink tank is empty, or the printer is not ready due to an error.
- Off: An error has occurred and the printer is not ready to print.
Close the inner cover and the scanning unit (printer cover).
Note:

If you haven't installed ink recently -- then you are out of ink and that is why you ink out light is flickering.

Hope this helps.
Good Luck.

Error code: U150 The following ink tank cannon be recognized (Cyan)

U150 ink error fixed!

I too was getting the error for unrecognized ink cartridge. Then the little green circ board fell out of the end of the ink cartridge and it hit me that maybe if I put in the little green circ board from the old ink cartridge of the same color, then maybe the ink cartridge would be recognized. It worked! So don't throw out an ink cartridge that still has ink just because of that error and hold onto your empty cartridges in case you need the little green/gold circ boards.

This works!
