If the image is in landscape format (i.e. wider than it is tall) and you look at it in portrait format (i.e. taller than it is wide), the camera keeps the same image proportions. Therefore, the edges have to be filled in with something, which is usually black, as it is non-distracting. Don't worry, the actual image itself will nor be affected.

Hi,

Based on the information you've provided it seems that the CCD Image Sensor of the Camera is affected. If the CCD Image Sensor is affected, the images captured may be discolored or with lines on it. Even if the CCD is affected, the previously captured images and icons of the Camera will display normally. You may try power resetting the Camera.

Turn off the camera.

Remove the battery pack.

Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.

Allow the camera to remain without power for 60 seconds.

Reinsert the battery pack.

Turn on the camera.
Also try resetting the Camera back to factory default: The RESET button is located at the lower right side of the control button. To reset the camera just press the RESET button using a sharp-pointed object.
If the issue remains the same, then service may be required.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Are you talking about black bars on the left and right side og the pictures? Try using 'FORMAT', 'ASPECT', or 'ZOOM' on the remote to fill up the screen.

Nothing or black screen shows up when pic is taken

The problem is with the software in the camera! So take your camera to the nearby service center and do a format of your camera! That will fix your problem. Also check whether there is any problem in ur LCD screen!

KODAK eASYSHARE c530 BLACK SCREEN DOES NOT TAKE PICTURE

You may still be able to take pictures with your black screened Kodak camera. This problem occurs in the line of Kodak EasyShare digital camera models.

When you turn on your Kodak EasyShare digital camera, turn off the LiveView function. Take a picture using the small-windowed viewfinder (this is not the LCD screen). Also, try zooming in and out.

After taking a picture, review the picture to see if the picture has been taken. Then turn on LiveView and occasionally the LCD screen should no longer be showing a black screen.

Kodak CX7330. turns on but LCD screen is black and won't take a pic

It sounds like a bad connection on the ribbon cable of the LCD screen to the camera's motherboard. The fact that when you physically move the camera around and you can get the screen to then work, tells me something is loose inside.

Good luck!
