are you trying to boot from a dvd or a flash drive? it sounds like either a software problem or a virus took out your Master Boot Record. restart your computer and press F8 until it goes to safe mode. boot the computer in safe mode and run an anti-virus completely if it clears ok if not download hijack this and run it, then send the results to one of the "Hijack This" pros. They will help with your virus or adware problem If you have your operating disk there is always the option of reinstalling the OS but i would do the prior first.

I have a VAIO SVE15114FXS. I believe this is a hardware problem, as it seems to be OS independent. Tested in Windows 8.1, Ubuntu (several versions). Do these systems share drivers? Unsure if it would...

The drivers for Windows 8.1 possibly not being installed can cause these problems. The drivers for each type of Operating System are different. When you install an operating system generic drivers are used and some of these will cause unusual problems. The Windows drivers are known to cause problems. Ubuntu drivers are usually installed with the Operating System. Drivers from the computer manufacturers can be downloaded for each Operating System.

My computer is being really slow and after a while it says 'Not Responding' on applications i use. Especially when i use 'My Computer'. It has got to the point where i think i may have overloaded some...

Symptoms of the computer overheating are usually not associated with the "not responding message".
Cutting out and getting very hot before this happens IS. Two things here:

1.) Try running a defrgment command on the laptop (C:/tools/Defragment), make sure you have no applications running while it does it. Then after that, boot to safe mode (F8) and schedule a disk check on reboot (C/tools/Check disks)

2.) Check the space on your hard drive, if less than say 2GB, clear up all the dead data (browing histories, cookies etc. See if that helps

3.) Try running as few apps at the same time, see if that stops the problem, if it does, worthwhile getting more RAM installed

4.) Reinstall the Ipod drivers / software, but check the USB ports on the laptop can still recognise other connections like a flash drive / usb mouse etc. If they have failed, then you have problems.

5.) If it now works, consider getting it stripped down and the CPU cooling fan cleaned out and the heatsink, may save you a dead laptop in future

Finally, if you are still having problems, probably worthwhile doing a repair install of windows

When i try to open the only respond i get was the continue blinking of the laptop no picture is benig showned in the monitor

Shut down your laptop and try pressing the center of the keybord just center of your screen firmly gently and then start the system if its ok the display comes back you are having problem with the heat sensor of the display card and not coooling properly .so loosing the display.
BUT if you mean there is a cursor blinking on the screen and dosent have display then your boot devices are configured improperly and so its searching for boot device .
also it happens when usb boot is enable in the bios and any usb device is connnected like flash or usb hard drive try to remove them and restart the pc.

I would like to use my usb flash drive to install and troubleshoot my windows xp operating system. My dvd cdrw drive is not working. I have an error stating that the explorasy.sys file is not there when I...

We are going to do this the easy way....you need a computer of course and one that has a working cd/dvd player, a flash drive and a windows installation disc. A recovery disc will not work...you need a windows installation disc.

Go to the control panel > folder options > click on the "View" tab, scroll down and UN-check the box the says "hide protected operating system files", now click the bubble above that says "Show hidden files and folders.
Now get out of the control panel and insert the windows disc in the drive.

Go ahead and insert the flash drive into a usb port and let windows recognize the device and load it. It will give the device a drive letter.

After the disc loads, it may appear on your desktop and say to install Windows....just exit the program but don't eject the disc. Open "My Computer" and look for your cd/dvd drive and right click on it. Choose "open" from the choices and a list of files and folders will appear. Select all the files except for a file that says "desktop

Copy all the files and paste them into the flash drive that you can find in "My Computer" The files from the disc will now be written to the flash drive. Once the copy is completed, the flash drive can now be used to boot the computer.

Insert the usb drive into the laptop that needs fixing and power it up. After the flash screen appears, tap the F12 key to bring up the multi-boot options. Choose USB drive and hit enter. The laptop will boot off the usb drive and initiate the Windows files.

I need XP drivers for R20

Go to download.com and get Driver Magician Lite 3.44. Download it to a flash drive. Plug the drive into the computer and install DML. When it has run, save the non-Windows drivers back to the flash drive. Now you have all of the drivers from your computer that do not come with Windows. You can leave them on the flash drive or burn them to cd.

Acer laptop booting only if battery removed and on main power

try disabling ACPI (Advanced Configuration Power Interface) in BIOS screen, if you have that option. Something does not agree with Windows control of all ACPI devices...could be the modem or ethernet network. Also, if no success, try disabling "allow this device to wake computer" for either (or both) the modem or ethernet network devices in control panel-system devices option screen.
