Question about Fuji FinePix Z2 Digital Camera
Knocking the bottom of the lens end of the camera 3 times on a wood table, medium gentle, fixed a zoom error (where it would not focus in zoom)
The camera had been dropped whilst skiing holiday and this method fixed it. Very Happy!.

Hi i had the same problem with mine,i took the case apart but could see nothing untoward, reassembled it and just out of frustration i turned camera on if you listen carefully you will hear a whirring sound as soon as it starts turn camera off do this repatidly a few times but do not let the motor finish its cycle, hey presto no more fault. i can only assume that the motor sticks and by turning on and off really quickly frees it up...

I have the same zoom error with my also new, 10 months old F50. The lens is stuck.
When I sent my camera to fuji service center, they charged $10 to assess the camera and to tell me that zoom error is due to an impact i.e. I drop it! Can quote me $250 to replace the len.
I'm very certain I did not drop it. SO would like to ask if anyone face similar error on a undrop camera?

Instead of hitting mine on a table 3 times I misunderstood and hit it with a table 3 times. I hate you guys so much, my camera is broken and my table is broken too. Not really; Mine is an F20 I was told to use canned air to blow around the lens as you turn it on several times, in case a tiny bit of grit is jamming it. It does work.

Omigod i had the same problem as all of you and was told by fujifilm that it would cost me nearly 90 pounds to get it fixed which is nearly what i paid for the camera- no chance. so i just banged my camrea three time like it said here and its bloody working again no way :D am super chuffed... i now have an image of all the fujifilm tech guys banging cameras off tables laughing as they pocket 90 quid :D

Thanks for the advice for banging the camera to get rid of it. It makes a little whirring sound then you turn it of and back on and hey it worked just as you guys said it would. Thanks once again

As the dialogue went, I banged it against a book several times and zoom error went away; not sure how the camera is however

Yes! just before I was about to go out and get it fixed or buy a new one, I read this and tried banging it on the table - now it works again! crappy camera, great solution

It worked for me after one tap and one bang - but the slider was open the second time.
Fuji really should do something about this - all their models seem to have this problem.

I tried the open and close before end of whirring and that worked a treat!!

Had the same problem 'zoom error' 3 times within 1 year, First 2 occasions sent it back to fuji for 'repair'. This time only 2 months after 2nd repair it failed again, just before it was needed for a wedding. Felt like throwing it in the bin, but looked here and followed advice to hit it 3 times on a table (why 3?) and hey presto it works. So even hi tech gadgets can be persuaded to work with a little thump!!

I also have the same problem. When i slide the cover to take the pix. Zoom error pop up. I cannot take any shot since then. I try many ways to get it work properly. I took the battery out for few hours and turned the camera on/off many times but...it didnt work. Does anyone have any solution for that? coz my brother bought it in Germany on his business trip and it seems to be hard to return it to the manufacturer and get it back.
