We have a Kenmore Elite Refrigerator with Bottom Freezer (only a couple of yrs old) and water is running out of the ice maker. Would you be able to give us an idea on what to do?

It could be a couple of things. Check to see if the bar that controls turning the ice maker on and off is in the down position. Up is off. My ice makes water line froze in the refrigerator section; no ice and no clod water. Check to see if the cold water is working in the refrigerator section. If not, turn the refrigerator section temperature to 42, keep the door open until it drops to that temp, and wait 24 hours for the water line to thaw. The water and ice maker should start working.

six weeks old / prob still under factory warranty . but ck the tempts in freezer it must be 15 deg of colder to work . so reset the control for freezer to the highest setting then back one.. this should help .

try a full unit defrost clean out vents/drains.

is it getting water?
if not check inlet valve

It may be the defrost thermostat. This thermostat turns on a heater in the freezer a couple of times a day and melts the ice in the freezer which should go into a tube that leads to a pan underneath the refrigerator, where it sits and evaporates from the heat of the compressor. It could also be the timer which tells the refrigeator to turn off a couple of times a day and tells the defrost thermostat to turn on.

I turned up the temperature in the freezer and the refrigerator. The next day the water was flowing.
