Question about Dryers

1 Answer

Get a squeeky sound from my maytag dryer every time I use it

It seems to do this no matter how heavy the dryer load is, as soon as the drum turns, and continues until the dryer stops.

This is a normal issue, the dryer has "Bearing Slids" that where down over time, you can order new ones from with your model #, you will need to take the front of the dryer off to replace then

Make sure that nothing has gotten caught up in the blower wheel which is located in the exhaust housing at the front section of the dryer. You can try turning by had and listen for noise, but sounds like something may be in the exhaust housing. If not it will be motor.

I have a squeeky maytag dryer that seems to be getting louder. Is there a lubrication that I can apply to a part?

Your problem sounds like drum rollers have is in need of lubrication.
If you have a front loading machine,
Remove the electrical box that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer. Be real careful not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch. Then remove the top of the dryer.
Remove the front of the dryer. This will expose the drum and belt, remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers.
Check your rollers for flat spots, if they have flat spots on them replace them.
If they don't then they probably only need lubrication. Lubricate the shaft of the rollers with a good grade of machine oil such as 3 in One oil. Reassemble the dryer, plug back in. This should solve your noise problem.
I will include these two websites for parts and further help:
Both also have chat assistance 24/7.
Good Luck,
I hope this helps

When I turn on the dryer you can hear a drag and turns loudly

Sounds like you may have a sock or something stuck between the drum and the front felt seal...or maybe your drum roller needs lubrication or replacement.
If you have a front loading machine you would normally pull the front of the machine off, that will expose the drum and seal, if you remove the drum, then that will expose the rollers.
Lube the shaft of the rollers with a good grade of machine oil such as
3 in One oil.
I hope this helps

Dryer noise

A drum support wheel bearing could need lubrication or be replaced.  Also some drum support wheels have a rubber coating that wears off causing misalignment and noise.  Possibly drum gasket (sometimes felt material) where drum meets rear panel is worn allowing metal-to-metal contact--should be replaced.

Clunking maytag dryer

the machine is opened and inspected from the front
opening from the front there is no heavy lifting or moving of the dryer needed,
the usual causes of a ' cyclic clunk '
a worn spot on a drum felt. when that area reaches the bottom, the weight of the
drum causes a clunk.
a damaged belt that clunks when the tear hits the drum
a collapsing drum roller(replace in pairs)
each is easy to fix, cheap,

Dryer Noise

You need to have you belt replaced. Over time the belt will strech.
this causes the dryer to still spin but the belt will sometimes loose the grasp of the drum and cause the belt to spin only.

This happens because over time with heavy loads of towles and jeans pull down on the drum as it is being loaded. Than when in cycle the jeans will drop from the top to the bottom pulling aginst it even more..
