    Another question, what if my TV has only Cable In, such as Ant. IN and Sat In. Then my DVD has 1 video and Left and right Audio and I believe is called Composite (RCA). And my VCR has cable in and out, and has video and audio. If you know how to connect this let me know thanks you.

    Again thanks for the answer and your opinion...

    I have a Sanyo TV Model DS19310. I hooked up the DVD player but cannot view it on the TV. Cannot find a station to view in on. Have lost the Manual. It is on cable and I ran all the channels while the DVD was playing and changed it to antenna and ran the channels but still cannot view the DVD movie. Can you help?

If I understand your posting/description right, you have:
1, a Sanyo TV with only 1 video input;
2. you have a DVD player with only video output; and
3. you have a VCR (which I will assume to be with both video input and output).

Your query, if I may clarify, is how to hook them up so that you need not connect/disconnect any video cable when you want to switch video source from either DVD or VCR.

If that is what you want, then connect:
a. audio/video OUT of your DVD to audio/video IN of the VCR;
b. audio/video OUT of your VCR to audio/video IN of the TV.

The above described connection would allow you to:
i. watch DVD movies on your TV (your VCR must be powered ON and set to Video INput, your TV must be powered ON & set to Video INput);
ii. watch tape movies from your VCR without disconnecting/connecting cables.

Additionally, this arrangement would allow you to record DVD movies in your VCR. Further, connecting your cable/aerial to the RF INput of your VCR would allow you to do the same with a TV/Cable program.

Incidentally, if one of your units (TV, VCR, DVD) would only have a single audio input, it is still possible since some models uses the white audio RCA connector as either left or mono, the red is right. You can also use a 2 female RCA to 1 RCA male adapter as shown below to joint the red/white audio.

Hope this be of some idea/help. Pls post back how things turned out or should you require additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

    Hi again,

    Of course the correct procedure for the audio (red/white) is to connect to a stereo (left/right).

    The initial posting still holds true except:
    1. rather than "use the audio/video OUTput of your VCR to the audio/video INput of the TV", connect the RF/Cable OUT of the VCR to the ANT/Cable IN of your TV. Set the TV to Regular/Std/Air Channel 3 or 4 as the case may be.

    Normal would really depend on the features of the different units. I would say normal would be:
    1. TV's RF/Ant/Cable IN would be just that, your aerial or cable;
    2. DVD would use Video 1;
    3. VCR would have to use Video 2 then.
    This is of course on TVs with 2 or more Video INputs.

How to hookup Sanyo DVW-6100 to a Sylvania tv

If the Sylvania tv is a CRT (old style tube tv) you can just use an RCA cable and hook it into the composite video. It will be the cable that has a red, white and yellow connectors on it. The yellow is the video, the red is the right audio and the white is the left audio. Connect ones side of this cable to the output of the DVD/TAPE player and to the input on the TV side.

Most set top boxes with HDMI also have a yellow video out and white audio out for connection to a VCR or DVD recorder. Connect these two RCA cables to the VCR's yellow and white INPUTS for recording. Set the VCR to LINE input. For VCR playback, connect yellow video and white audio OUTS from VCR to your TV's yellow and white INPUTS. Select this input on the TV set.

Getting a dvd player to record vhs to dvd

The RF converter takes the Red/White/Yellow as INPUTS and converts them to either channel 3 or 4. You need to go the other way. You need a tuner or another VCR to convert from RF (channel 3 or 4) to a standard AV signal (Red/White/Yel).
